C10 Value?

This is a 1970 Chevy C10 short box step side. What would you pay for it? The owner isn't a truck guy and frankly I'm not either so neither of us know a fair price.

Supposedly he paid 3200 for it 5 years ago and hasn't spent much money or time on it since. It starts and runs well. Has some rust - the worst is pictured. Glass is good.

Any ideas?

Yes he can if he is looking to buy the truck. If he owns the truck or is selling it he can't ask without being a premium member....

Re: C10 Value?

many things determine the value of a truck like this. for this truck the big thing is is it a real 4x4 swb. check the vin and see if it matches the spid in the glove box also make sure the wheel base on the spid is 115 and not 127 and that the vin starts with a k. the bed has had some weird work done on those steps with the diamond late for sure. so it will need work but an original k10 swb 4x4 is a high demand truck now a days so if the vins all match and be sure to match the last of the vin to the serial on the top of the frame by the steering box then its worth good money but if its a cut down or conversion or a butch with mismatched vins then the price will drop for sure.

Re: C10 Value?

If the VIN starts with KE1, I think you're golden. Cross check the SPID and metal tag and frame VINs as mentioned above. Hood has to go... and I'd look very closely at the underside of the doors, they look a little wavy to me on the bottom edge. If as honest as it looks, and considering what the seller has disclosed what he paid and said he hasn't added to - I'd offer 3200 in the hopes he's just trying to break even. Then 4000. It's well worth that all day long. Then I'd go as far as about 6500-7000 if it is indeed exactly what you want, but that's it. If you don't have a preference and just want an era truck, maybe go $5500. It's worth it up to 7 or so if you are looking for "that" truck. Concur that K10 steppers are in demand.

Re: C10 Value?

I'd say 3000-3500 depending on how it drives since it looks like you are in the same area as me. After what I've seen on Craigslist recently around here I wouldn't be surprised if 4000 was the number. It seems like people are getting a little more for these around here than what I'd like to pay.

Re: C10 Value?

There were only 1,629 SWB step side 4x4's built in 1970 if that gives you any idea on the rarity, and why verifying it's correct makes a large difference in price.

Re: C10 Value?

Sounds like all the VINs match which is cool but unfortunately that puts it outside my budget because I know the owner too well to lowball him. Thanks for all the replies...sort of!
