Saw these guys out at Hot August Nights, they make all kinds of different flavors, you can buy them with gauges, without, no holes at all, pretty nice, but a little $$$$

YEA RIGHT!!! we didnt pay that much for my whole truck id never spend that much for a peice of plastic and some guages. just my opinion, i am a bit of a tight wad lol.

I have about $700 in mine, that includes everything...universal gauge wiring harness, gauges, alum bezel, LED's for signals and high beams. Plus, I built it myself...that is worth something.

Oh but you DID pay almost that much for a piece of plastic and gauges, but it also had wheels and a motor to boot. The truck in your driveway is proof of that. If I were to be doing a custom build, I would consider doing a special dash. I am working on a polished aluminum dash for a 68 Chevy C-10. I are sick.

Good lord, nearly $1000 for gauges? I mean they're nice but good lord, nearly $1000 for gauges? When you said "a bit pricey" I was figuring $349, maybe $399 haha I was a bit off

I'm like Jeff and did it as well. I went with the Pro-Comp's and believe me they are worth it to me. I had all sorts of other gauges and none were as nice and easy to read as these. I haven't got mine done as nice as Jeff's just yet but they are still very functional and look factory in their settings.

They got those things listed at SummitRacing in several different flavors... all of which are too rich for my blood.

I would buy those guages. First off, not everyone has the time or skill to make such a nice package. Second, I hope more companies would spend their engineering dollars on developing products for our era of trucks. If you have the time then you might as well save some money. As for me, it's worth the extra coin to have something fit right and look perfect the first time.

I am looking at this whole discussion and my assumption is this: If you want to make a show quality product and you want it to reflect professionalism, then the high priced items will be in your toolbox. If you are building for the street and you don't have the dollars to do a "American Hotrod" special, then you will want to save money. There have been and still are functional good looking steups out there and they are reasonably priced. My next project will have the higher dollar "Bling" because that is what gets attention in a show atmosphere and I am building it for show and driving. My present truck has the stock gauges and billet aluminum trim, and it works well, now I am going a step further. I am happy outfits out there are making things like this, so that it is available when I or others want it. It saves me the trouble of getting all of the equipment to make my own stuff. This is what the boys at the professional shops do, rather than getting all of that serious overhead in their shops. Hell, even the OCC boys, just now started making their own frames.

The autometer gauges are great. Not only are they easier to read, but they are much more accurate. My factory gauges barely moved.
The autometers are on the move all the time (the needle moves with every little change).

I have to agree with AirMale and piecesparts, sometimes these home made jobs look like, well 'Homemade' rather spend the few extra bones to get something that looks a little more professional than go thru all the hassle.

If those were professionaly made, then they would've tilted the gauges back to be able to see them clearly. Looks like they went the quick route.
