66 fleetside tailgate latch/chain pictures

I am working on a 66 Fleetisde that has none of the original tailgate hardware. I'd appreciate seeing some pictures of the factory pieces, as well as any aftermarket stuff available.

Thanks, Mike

Here are a few pictures of the tail gate hardware. I really like the stealth latches on the red '65 Chevy C10 lwb fleet. The previous owner did this, but I really like them.

The latches are called Stealth latches. I have seen them in some of the aftermarket truck supplier's catalogs and websites. One of the sites is: http://classicparts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=11-328P They sell them in a kit, but it does not include the cylinders. The cylinders look like they came off a late model hatchback car. They work excellent and they are very smooth and no more paint chips.

Use the GM 80's style seatbelts....the small stainless looking ones.

Weld the 'male' part to the gate, and the 'female' recepticle part to the bed. Works great...thinking about doing it to the Chief soon.

Re: 66 fleetside tailgate latch/chain pictures

This is a good site for tailgate latch options:

http://www.persh.org/Pickup/IdeaPage.htm

This has the seat belt option John mentioned. There a few other good methods, that allow the factory chains to be removed.
