LockDoc needs help

he is in the Dallas area and is having problems with the X-case on his 99 blazer. he has limited tools with and may be looking to swap it out. I found a good sounding replacement on car-part.com for him but he needs tools and/or extra hands.
he can be reached on his cell at 641-990-9957
if anyone can help it would mean a lot to me.
thanks, Todd

BTW, the case is a NP243 (RPO code NP1)

Re: LockDoc needs help

I just talked to LocDoc. He's going to try to limp on over to he's friends house about 15 mi. from where he is currently staying. If he has any trouble, he's going to contact me and I'll grab my trailer and go pick him up and take the Blazer on over to Arlington.

Re: LockDoc needs help

I made it over to my buddy's daughters house and after checking the xfer case closer I found a crack in it. I am taking my buddy's truck on to Houston for Thanksgiving with my daughter and her family then I will come back here and fix the S-10. Thanks to Todd for Posting the help thread and Oldiron69 and JayG for the offers of help....

Re: LockDoc needs help

Glad ya found help. I can't do much other than run you somewhere for parts but glad to do it if you need it when you get back here. I'm about 40-50 miles from Dallas but near I-30 so I could probably be there in less than an hour. Liz should have my number and I'm pretty sure its on the emergency list. PM'ed it just in case.

Re: LockDoc needs help

lockdoc, if you get another t-case. be sure to look it over closely. some of the S/T series trucks have a problem with something in the case wobbling around and making a pinhole in the back of the case. i've replaced two case-halves for it, but cant remember excactly what part makes the hole. i have one sitting here i can take a pic of too show you where to look

Re: LockDoc needs help

Dieselwrencher, you obviously aren't familiar with Tx.I appriciate that you were trying to be helpful but it's about 600-650 miles between Houston and Lubbock. It's over 300 miles from Lubbock to the Dallas area.Iam a native Texan and find that a lot of people just don't understand that it is a long way across Tx.N-S or E-W at the widest point it is a full days drive across the state.

Re: LockDoc needs help

Thanks for all of the help and well wishes guys.... A friend of mine from Grinnell, Iowa is in Arlington, TX spending two or three months with his daughter. I was able to limp the truck over to their place and he let me borrow his truck to head on down to Houston so we could spend Thanksgiving with the daughter and her family. We will go back up to Arlington Sun. afternoon or Mon. morning so I can fix the truck. I figured there wouldn't be much of anyplace open before then anyway. My friends son in law has a good supply of tools and a place to work on it so we should be OK. 68c15 (Todd) found a couple of transfer cases for me online so I will pick one of those up and just swap it out... If I need anything I will contact one of the board members that contacted me via phone or PM.

Again, Pat and I thank all of you...

Re: LockDoc needs help

what he is talking about is on the top pass. side of the rear case half. the fluid pump gets to wobbling and wears a hole in it. worse comes to worse you can slap some silicone over it and replace the back half when you get home.
