trying to find mounting locations for a bed.

hi guys first off let me introduce myself. i am currently building a 1948 pick up on a s10 chssis. i am using the e-z swap chassis kit and someone i met selling some parts gave me a link to this site saying i may be interested in what i find. he was right and i have registered.

anyways i have my kit on the frame and went to install the bed. now when i install the bed i have the box mounts for the rear of the bed but the front of the bed looks like its rotted out and pieces are missing.

now i am trying to order all mounting pieces and everything i would need in regards to sheetmetal from LMC, classic industries or classic chevys but no one can give me the tech support i need to know what pieces i have to buy.

so i turn to you guys who my opinion would be the professionals since you have or have had hands on experience with these trucks.

im going to post pics of the rear boxes which are still there and then pics of the front where there is nothing. if you could direct me in the right direction in regards to what piece i need to mount the front of the bed it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys

Re: trying to find mounting locations for a bed.

I have recently had a very good experience with mar-K, they have great tech info and right now have 10% off their prices, which are competitive with everyone else's prices. The factory had wood blocks between the bed and the frame...I have no idea what the kit you bought uses.

And your pictures aren't showing up.

Re: trying to find mounting locations for a bed.

Hi - I'm doing the same swap. '48 on an S-10 chassis using the E-Z kit. The front bed mounts using a rubber bushing between the cab mount and the front bed cross sill. The front bed cross sill is available from a variety of vendors (lmc truck, mar-k, etc.)

Re: trying to find mounting locations for a bed.

ok now its making more sense to me. now heres the thing we're going for a rat rod kind of look but i still want the truck to be solid. do ya'll think the front panel is missing alot from it and in need of replacement or do you think it is solid and can be put to work?

im willing to order the front panels with the sills i just figure if i can salvage that front panel piece i have than why bother ordering a new one.

thanks for the assistance.

Looks like you're missing the front crossmember/sill. You might be able to use what you have if you had that piece.

What is that bracket opposite the gas tank? Can you post more pics, I've never really seen good pictures of that kit.

Here's the link for Mar-K:

Re: trying to find mounting locations for a bed.

cool yea those pieces are additional sills that come with the kit.

i'll post up some pics. what exactly do you want to see i have a bucket load of pics from the donor to where the project sits todaqy which is pretty much right here.

heres a few of the frame with the kit on it.

so then i replace the stock rear end with one from a 4x4 jimmy blazer and i swear the blazer one is wider than the stock one. the pics im going to post now are the before and then after.

before

after....
