What axles would be in my friend's 68 K20? We think that it has a Dana 60 in the rear, but we aren't sure what the front is. He also needs to know what the spline count is. Thank you.

Should be a Dana 44 heavy duty front axle and either a Dana 60 or Eaton HO52 rear axle. I'm not sure of the spline count but someone will know. The front axle should be a closed knuckle axle which gives you a poor turning radius and drums. Either rear axle is strong.

that looks like my 69, I agree with Yukon Jack that is a eaton HO52 you are limited with that rear end it can only be a single rear wheel or update with a locker. Good news is that rear end is bullet proof.

West, I'm not sure by what you mean you are limited with that rear. Mine has a factory No-Spin locker, which is a detroit locker, and a 14 bolt detroit locker can be used with, I believe, a change axle shafts.

I had a HO52 and wanted a limited slip diff, I was told that I could do single wheel or a locker no in between. The in between for me was the LSP andthat is why I said you are limited in that you only had the two choices single wheel or full locker. I wish I had the locker but I was told that it is really not good for a truck driven mostly on the road as a daily driver. Best of luck with your friends build.

I wouldn't be too worried about a locker in the rear, both my 69 and 70 have them and they get driven mostly on the road. The one in the 69 is pretty much unnoticeable but I must admit you know the 70 has it back there.
