how to test strutts in a 03 avy?

do i do the the bounce test, like a shock? backstory.. last weekend on the way home from vacation eveytime i hit a bump or hole hard on the passenger side tire it shook like a basketball... wondering it the wheel was going to fly off..lol

not really,just my teeth...lol feels like the tire is bouncing like a basket ball,i hit the brakes it come out of it..

If you think it needs them, it prabably does. Do the bounce test and take a look at it and see if you have any fluid coming out. If you do, they're bad.

Your Avalanche has shock absorbers on all 4 corners. No suspension struts.
The original shocks suck! Even when new. I like Bilsteins, A good place to buy http://www.eshocks.com/

good to know..read of them being called both on other boards..
guys i really don`t want to start throwing $$ at this truck as i`m about over it.. i just want to make it safe to drive for the duration i will own it.
i have only found a slight bit of play in the dr. side tie rod.. that shocks `seem` ok,but what else will make it bouce like a basket ball when i hit a hole or something at 70mph?
