my new 1980 Camaro project
Just brought it home today. I hope to have it running and in primer by this summer. I'm getting rid of the 67' for this, and with the Camaro I have way more to work with and a much more solid foundation. Between Camaros and Chevy trucks I don't know which I love more. I was raised up riding in the back seats of Camaros, and my first ride at 16 was short bed 4x4 chevy truck, so I figure either way I can't go wrong. Plans for now is to make the Camaro into a nice little street rod that I can take out to the track and see where it goes from there, but still try and keep it streetable, so I can hit local car shows and cruise ins with the family. And for the long term, when the time and money is right, pick me up a nice 67-72 along the way. with that said lets try to get some pics on here.

I'm having trouble adding multiples. I took these with my phone, then text to my sis and from her phone she emails back to me, and they all have the same photo.JPG number so when I try to add them all at once I only get one uploaded. So I'll get the real camera out get some real good pics, and carry on with some progress pics as I go.

some updates with pics:
I've got it running with a few new parts, and some old ones too. New parts: carburetor, radiator, hoses, spark plugs, oil change, fuel filter, and belt. Old parts: distributor cap, wires, fan, and pulleys. My buddy that I got it off of, was told by the guy that he got it off of that it was a built 305 with 400hp. My buddy knew nothing about the motor except what he was told, so who knows about all that 400hp talk, but we were all surprised at how good it sounded once my dad and I got it running. I did check the #'s on the engine and it is an 83' 305 and if I remember right it was out of a Camaro. It is not a Z28 even though the grill and hood might make you think so. Since we got it running I've been down a third week now with a fractured bone in my foot,and have missed just over a weeks worth of work, and all the extra money I had to work on it has now went to bills and or Christmas, so more updates won't come as quick as I wanted, but oh well we'll get there

Good looking project. I had an 80 Camaro back in high school and sold it in 1987. Sure did enjoy that car. Presently have an 80 Trans Am and really am enjoying it. I'll enjoy watching your progress.

ive been whooping on this 355 4spd 81 for 16yrs now and is my dd when its sunny and warm these cars handle great when set up rite good luck with yours and hope you enjoy it

i second that! good luck finding a good lower grill. i couldnt and would not spend the money for a new one. but i found a cracked 70-73 one piece grill and cut it down to fit in the lower grill.to look at it you could never tell.and i screwed it down with the square bit screws cause i do beleive somebody stole my nice original let them try to get this one

f-body warehouse has them from OER for '78-'79. Expensive for plastic....whats new?
