WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

Specifically, I need a few intact inner plastic cylinders, the ones that the spring ends key into and the spring and bolt run through in the retractor. Pic below. Or, just need some functional seat belt retractors, the whole assembly, so I can grab that part out myself. But this is all I really need (note to self, never purchase really nice oem belts from someone when the retractors aren't assembled - there's probably a reason they aren't assembled... "all the parts are there", my tookus...)
Thanks folks.

And another thing... Ha... Anyone got any good ideas on how to spread the $%^&* little metal clip over this thing that retains the belt in a way that doesn't destroy the plastic cylinder? This is rather nerve racking

Thanks very much Tom, just let me know. I need to come up with a way to install that metal clip without crushing these things!

Thanks - I'll see if Tom has the individual parts, if not, I'll be very interested in your full retractor setup - thank you.

Mark, got your payment. I tore apart 3 and found 2 good ones. Will ship all the parts Wednesday if that works for your schedule. Here is a pic:

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

No problem Mark, hopefully the metal sleeve clips I'm sending will be fairly loose on your belts too! I am surprised you fought them (based on the slip fit I encountered).

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

Jud, do you know what year truck yours were off of? Doesn't really matter - but I had a small parts batch, the ones out of my truck had the white plastic caps, and the parts I had were off various trucks. Either way, it will work as long as I have the plastic drum that goes with the caps - just curious. Seems like if it was a slip fit that the retractor would just spin inside the belt loop. But mine were SOOOOOoooooo tight, it was ridiculous. I'm sure something out of this little parts bucket will solve my problem - thanks again for taking the time to disassemble them.

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

Mark, at least 2 of these were out of a 72, and i think the other was a 71 or 72. The fit was apparently still tight enough since the retractors still worked. That said, id still maybe crimp them a tad before slipping together or use a little adhesive when reassembling (if a test fit indicates they arent tight at all).

Jud

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

ok, saga continues - thanks very much for all the effort Jud, I really appreciate it. The parts you sent are great, just won't work in my application - you even showed me pics of what you were gonna send and I didn't realize there was a difference - I assumed that at least the plastic drums were the same size as mine, but they are different. Ref this thread for details: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=627186

What I really need is the clear plastic drum, spring, and white end caps depicted on the left side of the picture below. The stuff on the right will not work with the floor braces depicted. Thanks all, appreciate your time!

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

Mark, learn something new everyday here! Just know you have the option if you decide to send them back, I'll give you a full refund. Or I can send bases free if you think the retractor covers would fit. The stuff on the left must be older?

Re: WTB: Seat Belt retractor part(s)

no refund required at all Jud, thanks for offering. I saw the pics and didn't know it wasn't the right part either. Could you post a pic of the hole openings in the floor braces you have? The ones on the left are original to my 72. Have now seen both types on a 72, so not sure it's year-specific.
