Re: Best way to clean this

Best way? A great source or two would say:

Clean it. Simple green should work, then wipe it off.

Sand the scratches out. Depending on scratch, start at 400 & work your way to 3000 o so. I'd be real careful with any 400. Take your time.

Carefully polish with white rouge & a soft flannel buff.

Treat it.

Admire your wheel.

I've only gone so far as sanding. Turned out nice.

I assume this is the same wheel you said was blue paint on a black wheel? Do you want to keep the blue paint while removing the discoloration, or are you looking for methods to prepare for new blue paint?

Re: Best way to clean this

I'd probably go with simple green to get the dirt knocked off.

My body guy gave me a good trick to polish mine. Make a paste with Comet and a little water. Rub it out with a rag and you'll be surprised how nice it comes out. If you have deep scratches, you could use 2000 grit sandpaper before the Comet.

That's very cool. I'll have to test out that comet trick. Sounds like it would work. Seems baking soda would have a similar affect.
