1968 front hood molding

Where can you buy one that actually fits, It seems like they all sell the same product and none will fit, and they just keep selling them. I have purchased 3 maybe 4, and they are all to straight , they need more bend so they will fit the hood. Does anybody have and old OEM part?

I'm pretty sure you can not. I was unable to find one. I ended up slitting the bottom and left the little hump on the top in the middle.

Re: 1968 front hood molding

I missed your question at the end. Are you looking to buy an NOS part?

I have the original one that came on my truck. But, it's in rough shape. I should send it to Taiwan where they are making the trash repro, so they can see how to do it.

Now you've got me wondering if I could strip the clear(anodizing?) off and polish up the original.

I don't think I can find an NOS piece, but and OEM used would work if it does not have any dents.

Re: 1968 front hood molding

Mine went on...eventually, with much fiddling and cursing. It took a really long time, too.

I got it from LMC, which means that it likely of similar quality or worse than the one you have. Do you have pics?

I wouldn't give up completely. Mine looks good now that it is actually installed.
