Re: '53 duramax

You did a great job detailing that engine. Do you have any tips on cleaning it up or pictures from painting the engine if you did?

The motor was disassembled down to the short block. The heads were sent to the machine shop to be cleaned, decked, and pressure checked so they came back pretty clean. The rest of the small parts were glass beaded and washed in regular water then primed and painted with engine paint. The block was hit with a wire brush to knock off the loose stuff then hit with aircraft stripper and wire brushed again and I used a metal pick to get all the nooks and crannies. I cleaned everything real good with brake cleaner then painted the block. It turned out decent. Definitely a lot better than it started but it's not perfect.

Re: '53 duramax

Not much to update...pretty. Pretty much put all the glass in except the cab corner windows. I ordered a set from classic industries and they didn't fit... Ordered another set from LMC and they were made by the same company that the other ones came from and they don't fit either. The glass is too tall and seems to not have enough curve to it. I can get it in the weather stripping but it won't pop in like the rear glass did and seems that it would be impossible to get the locking bead in. The stock glass however will pop right in. Anyone have any hints or pointers? Where do you 5 window guys get your repop glass from?
