I want this thing to eat a stock '09 challenger (13.2 seconds) for breakfast...... can i do this on my new stock short block?........... what mods are recomended.....my idea is a weiand 142 huffer and AFR 195 heads and a blower cam........I am on a budjet and do what I can when I have the money.......... this is my daily driver...........a HT502 big block would be nice but thats $5600

Re: Need some advice

You can probably get there with a huffer or some spray with the motor like it is. Just be real careful on your tune up with those hyper pistons.

Re: Need some advice

The crank will take a LOT more than the hyper-pistons you have. Those pistons don't hold up well to any kind of detonation. It's not so much the power levels that will kill it as it is the detonation that could happen trying to achieve those power levels. As Kevin said, watch your tuneup with either power-adder and it will live.

Re: Need some advice

I think that Weiand huffer and some nice heads would put you there. But as stated, the pistons would be the weak link

Re: Need some advice

I have hyperecutec pistons in mine......... I spray it with a 200 shot.. and Its still in alive.. I know there is a little luck involved but I always keep it fat ....... And like everyone else has already said dont let it ping.. The last time out I was crossing the line at 7300.... It also has a cast crank. Its a street truck it dosnt get raced every weekend. I dont know that I would trust it to that but I dont hesitate to run the hell out of it. One more little note I built it before my daughter was born...... shes nine now.

Re: Need some advice

be careful too fat will lift the ring land off the pistons. Fuel gets under the top ring land then fires and folds it right up. Its a big misconception that fat is good on a Nitrous tune up. Fat kills more stuff than lean most of the time.

Re: Need some advice

Here's what can happen NORMALLY ASPIRATED with Hypereutectic pistons, cast GM crank and just under 580HP at nearly 6800rpm.

WELL beyond thge reliability of any 'stock' component (block, crank or hyper pistons)

RPM's are much more devistating on the bottom end than brute HP.
