turn down the axle center to fit wheels

Okay guys I am looking at now just drilling my 12 bolt 6 lug axles for the 5x5 bolt pattern. I am going to run the 20x10 boss 338's. Do I have to turn down the axle center area to fit the hub area of the 338's? Thanks ahead for your comments

You need to turn it down to fit your new 5-lug brake drum,.... or,... redrill your 6-lug brake drums also.

Re: turn down the axle center to fit wheels

Thanks guys. I chucked the axles in the lathe and turned them down to fit the wheels. Lolife, I'll probably plan on drilling the original drums. Thanks again guys for the advice it was of great help.

Yes you will need to turn down center so that a 5 on 5 brakes drum will fit over that area. I usually weld up 2 of the six holes next to each other. When you lay out your 5 lug pattern you will see that a couple holes come real close to original holes. Best i remember you dont drill directly through weld. Hope this helps.
