Thinkin about doing some power windows in my 70 'burb, has anyone done this? Any experience or advice on the different styles and kits available? I'd like all 4 windows and would prefer not to spend $600 to do it...

I bought some of these used on ebay for $40/pair. I am going to modify/adapt them to work in my '61. If that works out, I'll do my Burb the same way. I plan to use the new motor with the old regulators. We'll see how it goes...

Im going to put in some power door locks in my suburban, I will just use the power accessories out a late 70's early 80's burb or pickup, I know with a little time and patience I can get the the power windows to work as well, I'm kinda old school instead of buying a prefabricated kit, I would much rather go to my favorite boneyard, get needed parts and have my buddy give me a hand.

problem around here is the junkyards think they're the dealer, they charge new $ -10%. And they crush most stuff older than 10 years old.

I ordered 2 sets of these with their wiring kit and installed on my 71.

Here's the problem -- on the back 2 windows, one of the regulator arms is shorter. So, I had to cut the OEM short regulator arm and weld onto the new set, so that everything aligned. Does this make sense ?

If you have them removed, you'll notice what I'm talking about. It's an easy cut and weld ( measure 3x ), but not a "bolt-on" for the back two windows.

good info, thanks. Welding and fabricating isn't a problem... how's the kit work? Decent quality?

Simply install --- rear driver window was a bit tight, due to space.

In regards to quality, good quality BUT the motors don't seem to be very strong. I have all new window rubber and felts, and since it's all pretty tight you can hear the motors "scream" the last inch or so.

I have a1 in the front right now.......thinking of doing the back the way of shortening the arm. Couldn't have been easier, and I haven't had any motor noise on mine so far....all my rubber and felt is new. We'll see how long the silence lasts!!
