If it were ever gonna end up in TX, it would probably haul its own ass!!

I seriously need to make it back, though. I want to stop back by the house in Arlington and the other in Mansfield to see what the neighborhood looks like and find out if anyone I know still lives there. I have a lot of damily down in San Antonio as well (Karnes City, and nearby) and need to pay them a visit too.

Hey 68ss - what is that bracket holding the intake to the radiator from? Just curious.

Re: my official 68 shortstep ls1 thread (lots of pics)

I haven't found anything anywhere about e-brakes. (probably haven't looked hard enough) With the exhaust tucking, what plans do you have for the emergency brakes? I found some kits at Summit and Jegs for about $80-90. Any suggestions?

Re: my official 68 shortstep ls1 thread (lots of pics)

i have e-brake calipeers on the back, but as for the stock routing of the cables, it would interfer with the exhaust.. as of now i dont plan on running a ebrake... but should i choose to in the future i'll have the pervisions to do so..

So when do you plan on painting? Nice bed wood, gonna look great! Was looking at your tranny cooler lines and how you routed them over the frame...will the cab miss them?

How did you determine which a/c setup you were going with?

Re: my official 68 shortstep ls1 thread (lots of pics)

i wanted a bulkhead connection, for that smothed firewall look... also i wanted it to be electric for ,IMO, a smoother opperation..and i wanted it to fit nice and neat behind the dash...i got a hybred of sorts.. a sure fit condensor and dryer with hard lines from CLASSIC AUTO AIR, also got the custom hot rod complete a/c system (electric) with serpentine sadan compressor, with you cut to fit lines and fittings..... hurry quick to order it with a bracket to fit the sadan compressor on a ls1 in the stock location... from what i understand they started to produce the sure fit system for 67-72 trucks with LS1 engines, but they stopped...??? and theres only x amount of brackets they have untill they're sold out...

Re: my official 68 shortstep ls1 thread (lots of pics)

got the steering column installed. it fits perfect, only thing i had to do was "rought out" the stock hole to fit a 2.25 column in a 2" hole... also started to mount the A/C system got the under dash unit installed and started working on installing my vents.... and the last shot is how the truck looks now (altho dr side door isn't hung yet)

Have you mocked up the compressor yet? I saw these but wasn't sure whether they would work with the truck style accessory brackets. From what I understand they are for f-body or Corvette accessories.

I hope you have better luck with CAA than I have. Absolute nightmare so far...

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
