Mike, progress is looking good. I have been following on FB, but the pictures here are easier on my eyes then trying to see the detail on my phone...LOL.

See why i love this board??.....if u chose to do so....u could run those last 10 posts or so as a DYI on sheetmetal replacement .and show those that don't think they can that its not that hard with planning and a few good tools and some common sense! I preach that it ain't rocket science ......just a lotta patience and the "want -to"....and the trick is to know your strengths and weakness's and farm out what makes better since and "cents"....lol.....U and I and 100's of others on this board have built many, many rides with the above plan and hopefully others will see the light on the rewards in the end....I used to show a 30k truck i built against 150k trucks in early 90's ..Question always was "why do u keep bringing yours when u know they will out point u?"....My response was always "yep they sure do .....their about 6 points ahead...what is that ??....oh yeah 20k per point!!! I'm ok with that!!!"......and i had just as much fun......jim

Exactly, I was totally intimidated by it and literally with zero help just sat down and reverse engineered it, took my time and put it all back together.

Cloud 9 went up against the best and came out Good Guys Truck of the year Finalist beat by a 200k plus truck.... I agree completely !

Just read all 15 pages! Progress is looking good! I'm in the middle of finishing up my drivers side rust repair, that is almost identical to what you just tackled. Keep up the good work!

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

OK--I get that the remote control tailgate actuator is overkill! But I saw this idea in theastronaut's thread (from several years back). I like this trick:

"Had a pair of tailgate hinge bushings made from UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weigh polyethylene). UHMW is self lubricating, is soft enough to keep the paint from chipping inside the hinge sockets, and hard enough to keep the tailgate in place. They fit tight enough in the hinge socket that they won't rattle either. Much better than the original metal bushings."

I just made some like this for my '57. I used Delrin, which is basically the same as UHMW, but probably much cheaper. I get black delrin rods from McMaster-Carr for less than $10/foot and I usually use them to make axle/peg/bar end sliders for my supermoto race bikes. I had some extra laying around and decided that it would work perfect for this. I haven't fit them yet, but I'm sure I'll be happy with the result.

Yeah, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting either. Its taking me longer than it took you to do the repairs, but I'm almost there. Haha! I know you said you were going with a short box, but have you seen the shlong beds? (Short+Long). I really like that look. Just throwing that option out there

OK here is phase 3 of my LMC Truck patch panel extravaganza.....Learning as I go ! My first time to do this

Cut the patch panel where you think it should go

Overlay and mark the original panel

Drill out the spot welds

Re: Slosh Tubz SEMA 2015 Build "BOOSTED BERTHA"

Next I sanded the loose rust off the inside of the bottom of the door

Shot it with weld through primer

Used the little black spray paint that I had left

Started fitting the LMC Truck patch panels

Once again those Harbor Freight clamps
