Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Who has a collection of license plates to go with their old truck? I only have about 20% of my plates displayed due to a small garage

My home state of Texas and some cycle plates

Current state of Oklahoma plates and more cycle plates

Who else I wanna see your collection

I have a small collection of plates, but they aren't displayed anywhere. I run one on my '68 C-10. Here is a few:

I had enough to make a border around my bedroom. Only have the first wall done so far.

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Here is a thread I started on Garagejournal.com

http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123962

A few pics of my garage rafters, I have started on the reverse now.....

Used to have a lot like this to swop out, South African.

Some plates from Hong Kong

Started getting crowded

Possibly my most favourite plate ever, a Purple Heart from a double receiver friend in Arkansas. Thanks Steve,

Some specials I got this year

Thailand plates arrived last week.

And some I got over the weekend at a car show.

I am always looking for speciality plates, like disabled, veteran, army etc.

I have a few plates. Don't really collect 'em, they just sort of accumulate.

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Pics later when I get time.

Some good British/English plates FREE to you guys.

If you want to trade or send out a plate/s, that would be awesome.

The only stipulation is that you pay the full Postage via Paypal including Paypal costs.

You could not fly out here for the price of postage.

PM if you are interested in having something different

Right, pic uploaded.

Just to mention again, I love the weird, unusual, used rather than newest.

If anyone wants to make my day, military, army, government etc does it for me.

That said, these are still available "free" at the cost of Postage fully paid via Paypal.

PM please and mention what plate/s you want.

There are a few dealer plates like the Fiesta, KA plates.

Also at the top, there are two unused, still with protective film on them.

I also have 4 of the same one that reads A11 VAL which would have been someones "personal plate" available.

There are 4 as you can see which have the dealers details on the bottom.

Lastly, in the UK, front plates are white, and rears are yellow.

The plates denote year of registration, so 10 is 2010 and 13 is 2013 however, 54 would be 2004 and 57 would be 2007 and then to make it more interesting 63 would be 2013 and 61 would be 2011 ........ confused yet ??

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

I've got plenty. Probably 25 or so that I can let go of.

Why Pay Pal? How come I can't just send them USPS flat rate International?

If I can, just send your address (private if you prefer) and you'll get a bunch delivered!

Hi mate, you will have a PM in a moment.

What I meant was that if I send any plates to you guys (those who collect and want some) they would have to pay their own postage as we pay post by weight and UK plates are longer and heavier than US plates.
So when they pay back the postage to me, Paypal is the convenient way for me as long as they cover the Paypal tariff.

Hope that makes sense.

Here is a license plate swap thread Revelation above started on GJ:

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Got two new, unused fire hoses and reels recently, to use in the Reproduction petrol pump I have started to build. Only needed part of one.

Offered on out free of charge on a couple of UK forums, and got a reply from Romania..... Yes, really.

Anyway, mentioned that I collected plates from around the world, and Mike replied that he worked in the truck industry, and would have a look.

These arrived in the post yesterday.

Romania has a system where the black on white plate takes a while to be issued, but if you are impatient, you can get a red on white temporary plate issued, these need to be returned to the government it seems..... I have one.

The green plate is from Austria, and has been folded in half, presumably to discard, but it is mine now.
I think it may be an "export" plate.
Hopefully someone who knows will clarify for us.

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Got a cryptic message from Optimusprime a few days ago about a parcel being incoming.

Today I collected a parcel at the post office.

All I can say is that I was very pleased.

I always looked at these old solid cast type plates, loved them, but could neither justify their cost, not afford them

Now I have a bit of old English history to add to my collection.

Howzit!
I was quite pleased to check your awesome license plate collection, especially the ones from South Africa, which are the ones I'm particularly interested & keen on getting hold, being an ex-pat...so my million dollar question to you, is basically to know if you have SA plates 2 sell, especially from that massive batch you had to swop...

Will be looking forward to hear from you sometime soon..

Best regards

Re: Who's got a license plate collection or restores plates?

Got a PM on Garage Journal from a member with zero posts but registered in 2009 last week.

This week he messaged again, I had forgotten about the PM as I am a bit preoccupied with finding a new job.

Still, I called him to discuss the offer he had put.

He had a bunch of duplicate and unneeded plates in his collection to offer me, and was looking for some South African plates.

So I found him some nice varied plates from my vintage pile. And sent them off.

He has will be sending me these........

Yup, very happy and feel privileged.
