53 Suburban..quick update

Here's where I'm at as of yesterday at 7pm.
Getting closer. Hope to be rolling in 3-4 weeks.

Ignore the ugly battery hanging out there. I hate it, but don't plan to open the hood often....

Oh yeah, BTW. It's 95% stripped to bare metal. Only place left is a small section in the center of the roof towards the windsheild.
I'm real pleased with how clean the body is.

Re: 53 Suburban..quick update

Looks great.

I bought one of those stainless drop down battery trays from CCP and I mounted it behind the passanger side front tire. It fits pretty good there plus it is hidden.

I love the red wheels.

Re: 53 Suburban..quick update

Can I get an idea (pic) where you mounted your brake booster on the fiewall?
I'm about to mount mine there and just want to get any input.
Thanks
P.S. I'd like to relocate my battery there, function over form.

Re: 53 Suburban..quick update

Looks great love the whites and red rims . Body looks to be in very good shape and the stance is great. Whats happening on the roof behind the windshield? Is that a roof vent I see?

Re: 53 Suburban..quick update

The paint still needs stripped in the center of the roof. My wife did all the stripping, and couldn't reach that. I have to hold the ladder for her to finish
And yes, it has that goofy roof vent from the factory. I'd like to remove it, but then I'd have to weld a hole shut about the size of a can of coffee.

As for the booster/mc....I bought a unit with a hanging pedal assm., and we just lined up where we needed the through the firewall brace and pedal to go. I can take a better pic if you'd like...

I can drop the rear fenders all the way down on the ground, but until I bag the front I thought it was too much of a reverse rake. So it sits down on snubbers for now.

As some may have noticed from posts I put of my other previous trucks, I'm heavily into wide whitewalls. I'd put'em on my 99 blazer if I could

Here's a pic or two of where the booster is. Maybe it'll help. I'm not too much into heavily detailed stuff. I just like cleaned up and functional.
I plan to drive this thing almost everyday when there's not salt on the roads.

And of my lovely wife hard at work. She's a keeper

Well, thanks for the kind words

Yeah. We got it done, drove it for about 6 weeks and sold it to a nice fella in Arkansas.
I lost my job at GE(thanks nafta), so it had to go.
He's on here too.
