Ironically the epoxy/polyester spray filler primer combo is what pretty much all of the top body/paint shops are using on top level restorations and custom builds. Ever heard of the Ridler award? Those cars are bodyworked using epoxy and polyester spray filler as primers.

I'll gladly be labeled a "hack" if I'm using the same type of products those guys are using to achieve the results they get.
