Re: Original paint 1972 Cheyenne short bed

So he bought a new truck from you and you bought this beauty from him. Did he buy another new black LTZ shortbed? If so stay in touch with him so in 50 years you can buy another like new classic truck. I wish I was the kind of guy who takes such great care of my vehicles, unfortunately I don't. One thing is clear, all of us can appreciate that guy.

Very nice truck.....very nice.
I always like it when there are found and largely kept original for the better part.
Modifying a truck that nice would, in my opinion....start to devalue it given the amount of modified emerging 'short bed' trucks popping up all over the place.
The truly original ones have an opportunity to set themselves apart which would (in my opinion) increase their value...if that matters?

Regardless....great find and a nice story to go with it.
Good to know they are still out there

All good

Re: Original paint 1972 Cheyenne short bed

Thanks for sharing the SPID, indeed a cool old truck. You mentioned you had some of the original interior pieces but planned to keep the Super woodgrain dash and gb pieces - are you going to go back to a parchment seat cover? Since you're gonna retain the Super dash pieces, might as well go with a Super's parchment Custom Cloth cover too! (i.e. parchment vinyl with black/white houndstooth) I personally think that would look really sharp. But the Cheyenne scrolled vinyl would look great too - and your current seat cover looks great! Lots of choices. That's a great looking truck, no matter what you do with it, congrats!

I love the fact that this is an unrestored Cheyenne short box. I believe this is the truck that a lot of people set out to find but could not hence the amount of shortened ones we see now. I agree with you about not modifying this particular truck. Modifying this old truck would be Wrong in my mind.I can’t imagine there are too many left like this one out there.

The truck is really new to me and at this point I will probably just leave it the way I received it. The previous owner has requested a few visits and maybe the odd Sunday afternoon drive and I think that’s cool. Probably best to leave it the way he remembered it for now.

Mac, while I am a rally wheel man I think no one would blame you one bit if you sourced up some OE rims, full wheel covers and white wall tires for a future change. It would be in good taste on that one.

The original wheels and full disc caps came with truck. Original bumper guards as well but not sure they would have been on the truck from new.

Congrats on a rare find.

Are the original rims/caps going back on?

I think I will leave the Rally’s on it. It’s kinda cool to have the option to run the original though. I would have to buy new tires for the original rims because the tires are no good.

That's cool, someone else had good taste at that very moment and that's a picture you could not take yourself but will always appreciate.
