PCM questions

Working on a 5.3 truck engine that has had a ls1 intake and injectors and shorty headers thrown on it. The last ls swap I done was just a pull out 5.3 delete vats and emissions from the pcm and that was it.
On this setup though what exactly will I need to do to get this thing running properly. Do I need a so called mail order tune? Also if so anyone recommend anyone.. TIA

Re: PCM questions

You'll need the ecm reflashed for the setup you'll be running..

If you just get a vats delete, it should be able to idle the thing on a stock tune. Then you can get it over to an actual tuner.

Otherwise you can do a mailorder tune, get HPT yourself and flash something off the repository, or find a tuner that will do housecalls (they exist, just rare).

Re: PCM questions

Thanks for the info brew. I'll probably send the pcm off for vats and emissions delete and get it up and running to check for leaks and do a shakedown run...just hate to make a appointment with a tuner and show up and end up with more problems because I haven't even heard it run yet and waste mine and the tuners time chasing small problems that could have already Ben taken care of.

Re: PCM questions

I would also ask them to update the tune with the LS1 injector data.
