Sounds like you are making some good progress on the truck. The "Baby" will be driving it for real before you know it...

Re: The 72 burb.Starting a collection...

I started working on the burb today. Its down at my buds shop.In the back..in the dirt...but better then nothing. The truck is all over the garage/house so tearing the burb apart here isn't an option.I made a deal with my bud and hes letting me use his shop/tools to get it done.I have till the end of the week to get the repair on the A pillar done.Wish me luck.

Some strange looking repair here.

Extensive repairs! Maybe support the roof and door opening there so it doesnt move?

Good to see one being saved. I thought they were all rock solid in CA..

Do you have a donor cab or what are you doing for a replacement pillar?

I got an a pillar cut from another truck. You can see it in the backround on the 5th pic.So ill be using that. Then im getting some new inner & outer rockers some floor, windshield and rubber. It will be nice to be able to open the door. And getting a new windshield will be cool too.no more looking around the crack...

Re: The 72 burb.Starting a collection...

The truck and car shop didn't work out...I got stuff from classic industries. They had everything and it was almost $100 cheaper.New windshield, rubber, inner & outer rocker and front floor brace for $178 out the door.My boss was like "i cant believe you got all this stuff for under $200".He bought the stuff too.I gotta pay him back, but man i feel pretty lucky sometimes.I wouldn't have been able to afford this stuff right now. Thanks boss!
I got the donor piece kinda in there now. It'll take a full day of fitting before its time to weld.Looks like im probably not guna make my week deadline.Unless i kick serious ass tomorrow. Its cool.I can finish it up throughout the week.

Be careful with the pillar placement. Just tack it until you're sure the glass is going to fit correctly.

Re: The 72 burb.Starting a collection...

Are you going to put the windshield in first, or how are you going to know you've got the pillar exactly right? I've just always shied away from trucks with the roof "eyebrow" rust because I was afraid if I tried to patch it I'd never get the windshield back in. I really admire your willingness to tackle this.

Got it in today.Tomorrow will be finishing up the welds and putting the glass in.Since i took too long on this one,ill have to finish the rocker and the floor at home.At least the A pillar will be in and i can put the door on to drive it home.

Yes. The big back window cabs seem to be more popular for some reason while there were lots more of the small window made. I think this carries over into
'67 also, by 68 or so there was no more small back window.

Looks like it's coming back together nicely. What are your plans for the hole in the roof? Same donor?
