Duramax mpg's

I am considering selling my 72 C20 because of the 10 mpg that I am getting for a 05 Duramax. The owner selling it claims to get 25+mpgs on the highway
That seems like smoke up my tailpipe. Is there any Duramax owners that get that much out of it. Someone else told me that the Bullydog chip can get 30 mpg on the highway. I love my old truck so I would rather keep it and find out the hard way about the mileage. Thanks for any input.

Re: Duramax mpg's

The dude wants 18000. Its all stock 4 wheel drive Duramax with 56k miles. It just seems too good to be true for a big heavy chevy to get that mileage.

Re: Duramax mpg's

25 seems a stretch - maybe at 55 going down 99 or 5 for a couple hundred miles. I would expect high teens is more realistic.

If you're allergic to BS like I am, you should be sneezing your head off.

An unloaded 2wd Reg Cab DMAX/Ally with 245's or 265's on stock wheels, a tonneau cover, bigger exhaust, and a very mpg friendly EFI Live tune MIGHT get 25 mpg. Don't bet on that Bullydog getting you to 30 either. Just my 2 pennies.

Re: Duramax mpg's

I have a new 07 CrewCab SWB 4 X 2 with 8K miles on it. It's completely stock and gets 15-16 mpg around town and around 18 mpg on the HWY @ 75-80 mph.

Tough to justify that these days with Diesel costing more than petrol, by the time you go through the expense of the truck and paying more for the diesel fuel, is there enough of a MPG gain to justify it?
