Decent sealer?

Hey guys what's a decent sealer I can spray on my truck that will help protect it for the summer? It will be outside for at least 6 to 8 months and then most if it will be inside for a few years until I can get it painted.

No sealer is meant to hold up to UV exposure. If you can cover it up then SPI epoxy primer would be a great choice.

Cool thanks! I will cover it after I spray it until I get the shop built, then it will be inside the rest of it's life. Or at least the rest of my life, who knows what the kids will do with it or to it when I die. lol I think a lot of it has to do with seeing it all the same color to help motivate me. It's pretty bad right now and not being able to get to the body for a couple years is going to bug me so having it all one color will keep me sane. Sort of! lol I'm not going to sand it or even clean the dirt off for now I'm just going to spray it to seal it up and make it look a little better.

Go down to Auto Paint Plus in PF on Seltice Way and talk to them. That is the most economical local place to buy quality auto paint.

I personally would not fret too much about what you cover it with, considering your aim is to strip or grind it off as soon as get the garage done.
Quality paint applied over an unsound or dirty base sounds like a waste of money to me. Heck, roll some $40 a gallon industrial enamel over it if all you want is to see it one color. That should do the job for a year or two.
Now having said that, i would try to stay away from coating hard to reach areas that will present a headache when it comes time to strip it off.

I'm no automotive finish expert by any means, but any kind of spray wax in thick coats be useful?

or even hand applied? just pressure wash off with hot water when you're ready to get back to it?

don't beat me if that's a dumb idea, I'm just a heavy junk mechanic

Yeah I like that place. I got some paint for my Colorado there last year and the girl that works there is really helpful. I'm thinking a gallon of primer/seaaler should work.

I'm certainly no paint and body expert either, but from what all the experts say, primer holds moisture. Plus, adding a coat of paint over areas you need to repair and sand later on is probably something you'll regret. I'd just paint the areas of bare metal and leave the rest alone.

I'd think Ospho should work on the bare & rusty spots

any unpainted areas I spray hair spray on every few weeks until I get back to that panel.
Stops surface rust short term and cleans off easy.
