Re: One piece windshield

I believe the '54-'55 1st series were the only cabs with a true 1 piece windshield for the AD trucks. Here's a shot of my mom's '54 from the front. Is this the "bubble" your talking about?

Re: One piece windshield

How much time/$ do you have into your cab right now? You might be better off looking for a 54/55 1st series cab and starting there. I don't know how labor intensive it would be to try and put a 54/55 1st series windshield in a 47-53 cab. I know you could bolt all of you other parts to the '54 though. I've seen that done many times.

Re: One piece windshield

The cowl where the windshield sits will not accept the round windshield. I'm not sure if it would be worth your time/$ to cut and paste a cab together, unless your current cab needs attention in this area anyways. If your dead set on the 54/55 1st series windshield, my suggestion would be to look for a 54/55 1st series cab. Just my .02

Re: One piece windshield

They do make a V-butted glass for the 47-53 trucks. Its two pieces of glass thats V-butted tight against each other. It looks like a single piece of glass but if you look close you can see the joint. Common thing on street rods...Eric

Re: One piece windshield

You can buy a 1 piece window for the 47-53's. It's a single piece of glass that is bent in the middle. Here's picture of one in my 48.
