Manual vs. Electric Air Mgmt Setup

So... what's your reason for running the air management setup you have in your car/truck?

Wanting to see what the general consensus is on the board.

Do you go cheap and spend the money somewhere else?
Do you go all out and click one button to arrive at your proper destination?

Tell us what you're running and why.

I like the manual valves that Dloe65 sells but for me I like that the e-level takes away all the guess work of the vehicle sitting level. I plan to run the e-level system on my dually!

I went manual for the time being, price and ease of install where the main factors. My $$$ went elsewhere (Engine & Suspension). eventually I will switch to Accuair, the "set it and go" option is just too nice!

I've had electric and manual valves. Electric is nice, however troubleshooting and initial installation can be a pain... Manual are my favorite (and the majority of what I've done.) The dloe valves are really nice but I haven't had a chance to install them (medical bs...)

I agree with what Rusbuilt stated and I will be going with Accuair on mine as well. I just like the option of the preset ride height and just one touch of the button and your aired out. Plus it constantly monitors your bag pressures as your driving and adjusts accordingly, just takes all the guesswork out for me. I know it costs alot more but is worth it.

Thats exactly how I feel but will probably start with manual valves to get my air bag feet wet.

I love the accuair stuff, but for me it's pricey. However, I'm still using electric valves, just old AirRide Tech Big Red valves.

I've ran manual valves in the past and just wasnt a fan. Not that they are bad, they just weren't for me.

electric valves for me and no e-level either, may be a pain to set proper height but at least I'll have speed on my side. young and want to be a little flashy plus I'm an hydro convert

My 68 has accuair on it already. Top of the line. But I do agree that DLOE has a nice manual setup. If you can afford you can't go wrong with accuair.

Buy the best, buy it once, and be done with it. There is nothing "wrong" with manual valves, but there is no comparison to a full auto system.

I love the manual valves and would have put them on my '69, but the manual valves don't work for my over the top build.

It really all depends what you're doing with it and what you're into. If you daily drive it, electric would be where you'd want to spend your money. A lot of other guys would like to spend that $2000 somewhere else, and that money could be translated into a few HP! I like my accuair because its so easy and I never have to worry about it. Park it in a parking lot, drop it, get back in, turn the key and drive away.

This topic can be argued till the end of time.. it really comes down to what you are looking for in your air ride. The is no true "best" or "is the only way to go" setup. It's just a matter of what features you want and how much you want to spend. Personally I've been running air ride in trucks for over 10 years since high school and never really had issues with ride height so spending over 2k for a air ride setup just so I can push a button and save 2-3 seconds isn't for me... I'd rather have a PB Dropmember and tubular arms lol

I like the smoothness of my manual valves. All the accuair type setups I've been around have felt jerky to me. As far as being able to let ayone drive my truck, if they can't work the simple air valves that raise when you push up, and lower when you push down, I'm not sure they are going to fare any better with a panel that has 8 or so switches on it. I understand that you can have them set up to a desired height, but there is still some knowledge needed to get there.

Either way, though, bagged trucks are awesome, and most anyone who has built one hs a lot of time and work in it, and they should choose whatever makes em happy. I'm a fan either way.

Can't be lazy driving a spooled 4 speed.. air management can't be any different.

not too mention the 1500 buck difference can go to buying a few pairs of tires and a couple cases of oil.
