Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

I got my new buckets mounted. Also got my new ACC carpet from Rockauto.... and a new ForeverSharp steering wheel! About ready to start getting the interior wrapped up so I can get my vintage air installed before the Oklahoma heat shows up!

Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

Well this has been a slow process, as promised. I unfortunately did not beat the heat, so my project was on hold for most of the summer. But summer is over and work has resumed. I have still been working on the interior and getting the vintage air installed. Like most know a can of worms can quickly be opened, but a little harder to shut!

Worked quite a bit on the floor, getting as much of the rust as i could out without actually cutting anything out. I also work on sealing up the cab the best I could. The goal for now is to keep the inside dry!

Some before pics...

Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

Figured now was a good time to get my cab mounts replaced. I went with poly for longevity. I also had to cut out the spot welds on the bolts. I bought a Dremel to get into the small depression more easily. (Such an awesome tool! )

Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

I used a combination of metal sealer, rubberized coating, and undercoating to seal any place that water was getting in. I then undercoated the entire floor and put down Fatmat.

Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

Had to do some rust repair work to my core support. Welded in a patch piece, cleaned it up, then spayed with undercoating. I then clean the whole piece and sprayed it with black.

Re: Gertie, the 72 c10 Highlander

Its been awhile since my last post so I figure its time for an update. I worked on getting my front end put back together after I roughly straightened out my drive side fender. Wasn't looking for anything perfect just wanted to knock the dent out.
