Restoring an antique wagon for my swap meet hauling
This is my first thread ever in this section.
Last year, I bought the remnants of an antique wagon at a swap meet for 10 bucks. I will call this my before picture...  Cracks...   Rust...    Bent parts...  First, I needed to fix the wallowed out hole where the front carriage turns, so first into the blast cabinet to get it down to clean metal that we can work with...  Then weld a nice thick washer over the hole to restore the round opening and give it some "meat" for future wear. I have got to get a TIG welder. Hopefully this summer...  Weld was nice and hot. Underside of repaired area...  (more in next post)

Then off to Northern Tool where they had their wheel/ tire assemblies on sale for 7 bucks. The old axles were bent and worn so I went to the scrap yard and bought a long piece of 5/8 cold rolled round rod for 3 bucks. This is the first mock-up to get an idea of stance (very important) and measure axle length to figure out where to cut them...
  That's it for today. Tomorrow I will repair the rust, lengthen the handle (I'm freakishly tall), and start prepping for powdercoating.

I have a bit more progress to report.
I got the axles cut to length, drilled for cotter pins, and welded to the undercarriage trucks. Then I powdercoated the trucks in argent silver like I do rally wheels in. I also extended the handle 9 inches and powdercoated it the same color. The handle is made out of solid 5/8 inch round rod that I had left over from a wrought iron job awhile back.    Tomorrow I hope to get the bottom cut out of the tub and get a new one fab'd up and maybe even welded in place.
