Mike,

I haven't checked in on this truck in a while because I have been on the road a ton for work these past couple months but she looks sweet! You have done a great job on this one

Oh yea, and I haven't forgotten about those rotors, just gotta get the time to get them sent your way....

Re: 1969 Short Wide

Your fuel filler looks great.how did you secure the "door" to the fender? Did you fabricate anything on the inside of the fender or is just on the front lip?

Thanks I am confident the filler will work for me, it may be a little slow but I think it will work out we shall see next time I take a stab at filling it up.

Thanks Ryan, It is pretty cool to drive the old truck.

Thanks Boynton. I will post some pics of how the door is secured. I made a small stainless plate to clamp the bracket in, there are the two stock bolts that came with the S-10 door and one 10-32 flat head that I added, it was a little tight but I can run an allen wrench thru the hole that the lamp housing mounts to. If you look close at the pics, it goes thru the existing hole for the front screw location. I welded a nut to the back side of the mount so I wouldn't need to hold it with a wrench. It was trial and error but I am confident it is secure.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

My son and I took the truck out to it's first public unveiling last Thursday at the local Sonic cruise-in. There is a bunch of older guys that just love old cars and trucks out there. At first the old truck didn't have much interest, but one of the guys came over and start looking at it, next thing you knew there was a pretty good crowd
They all gave me their stamp of approval. The fuel filler was a big hit with these guys, they were all just blown away. I was really happy how the evening went, it was good to share all those years of hard work, with guys that can appreciate what it takes to build one.

You got it quick and dirty. I can't tell you how much time went into that modification but it was worth it IMHO.

Great job, Mike! Nice and tidy. It's always the little neat mods that take up all the time. Glad it was well received.

Thanks Chip. It was pretty cool to see some other innovative ideas. The red F100 has an all aluminum 5.3 with 4L60E out of an Envoy. You talk about Ford blasphemy..... It was a killer nice install. Looked like it was made to go in there. Amazing to see we aren't the only ones putting new tech in old trucks
Check THIS out.

Glad you got to enjoy a little cruise in time before winter hits us in the face. That's pretty wild that the F-100 is running GM power!!!

Odd that you mention that now... I was thinking this weekend how cool a '73 Dodge ECSB would be slammed on the deck with a 6.0 in it. Always liked those. (Too much CHiPs and Emergency! as a child.) I was kinda diggin' on the F-100 in the pic. I like 'em all.

Thanks Keith, It was pretty cool getting to drive it. I have to fix the rear end before the next drive. I did take her out on the highway, that was too cool.

I think these powerplants work great in anything with wheels. I know I will be doing more in my future.
