The wheels would fit perfectly on a 71-72 truck. The 67-70 had a slightly narrower track width, but a front disc swap and a late rear axle would remedy that. Actually, the Dropmember was originally purchased with the intent of installing it in the truck, but I just couldn't resist putting the Blazer down on the ground... I may just do the simple bag set-up that was on the Blazer before and toss-in the 427 I have sitting on a stand; that's a ways off though, and plans tend to change a lot 'round here It will be a while, but I will detail the install in another thread. I already had a 6.0 build thread going before I decided to do all the suspension work- I'll link to it from here and continue there when the time comes. Quote:

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
Can't wait to see the new motor in that truck! Are you going to swap over to a 700R4 with the new motor?
Thanks for the info on your wheels, I know that you've probably been asked on numerous occassions. On your SWB are you planning on doing any major modifications to the suspension like your Blazer, or are you just planning on mainly bagging it? Do you think the wheel size/backspacing on your C5's would work well on a SWB?

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
hey gringo,
What are you using to enclose the rear wheel wells?? or are you just going to let it be open to see the back wheels?? The body guy doing my roadster called today to say that the wheel wells I brought him needed some work and I immediately thought about your post. What did you pay for those fenders??

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
The stock one will work by elongating the holes for the TC. The snout depth will be correct since I have an early 'long' crank, otherwise I would have to use a spacer. I am trying to buy as few of the fancy 'conversion' parts as I can and still have it be nice.
I am using 13" wide trailer fenders that are cut down to the correct height and flanged to bolt in the factory holes. They will be closed in on either side with 16ga sheetmetal. There is a link in Frizzle Fry's inner fender mods post in the suspension forum to the place where I bought 'em. They were just under $100 for the pair including shipping. Shipping was ~$30 I think.

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
It took a back seat while I swapped the engine from the Blazer into my pickup. That project is now complete, so I will start on the front suspension. Just waiting on a few more small things from Nate and the Dropmember goes in

Here's pic of when I got her and one of it now in the background. I've made many 'improvements', though you can't tell by looking. I've lowered it, installed a 700r4, fixed some rust, swapped to a correct bed, Blazer tank, new gauges etc... Most people don't see the progress though- maybe I should start another thread on how to ruin a perfectly good truck Cosmetics the next project when I finish the Blazer suspension...

I think the board needs a "how to ruin a perfectly good truck thread... Can't wait to see how the truck unfolds.

Just got done reading the whole thread, now it's time for . Simply incredible, .
Note to self: You've got to stop reading these cool truck builds or you're going to end up doing something stupid, .

Some progress(albeit only a little)... Got some 3" longer than stock u-bolts made up at the local spring shop. This allowed me to install the extra 3/4" block out back and get the axle all the way into the notch. It is sitting on the bumpstops now

Re: How to: Ruin a perfectly good Blazer...
Also yanked out the unnecessary sheetmetal up front. Unfortunately, drop is limited by the fenders resting on the tires.
My front tires are 29" tall, so I am pretty limited. The bags won't even fully compress and the crossmember is nowhere near laying. The Dropmember should cure this.
