22" wheels on burbs Q

Im really close to ordering wheels...and the great fear of fittiment is haunting me. I have had really bad experiences in the past so I do not want a repeat. My burb is lowered quite a bit. I'm wondering if anyone running 22's has been able to run thier stock inner fenders? Also Im trying to decide between all 22x8.5, all 22x9.5 or staggard with a 265/35/22

What are you guys running?
What do you recommend i go with?
What probems do you foresee?

I know these trucks are all different and it will take a leap of faith no matter what but I'd still like to hear opinions.

Right now I have 235/75/15's installed

wheels Im looking at are the rev classics

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

ok no advice so far...does anyone have a picture of a burb on 22's with a static drop like mine? I feel like 22s would work because the burbs are so big...20's I know look great but Ive always wanted 22s on a burb or blazer. I dont know if I'll ever bag it but maybe way in the future. I know a lot of guys dont love the big rims but thats how I roll. I just dont want it to look lame by sitting too high.

Ya thanks, I've checked it out. I decided to just bite the bullet yesterday and place and order. I'll deal with the headache of fitament when they arrive. Either way I'm pumped ha ha . Nice Burb by the way.

I would like to know if anyone is still using inner fenders and still running 22's all the way around?

Ill let you know in a few days. My gut feeling says they are gonna rub like crazy but if I get really lucky maybe they won't and I'll be able to run my stock inners. My fronts are going to be 22x8.5's with a 265/35/22.

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

Got my wheels today... fears of fittement all came to a head...Fronts fit ok...I think they will rub on corners...rear tires rub on the inside just a tiny tiny bit. So pissed. I went with a 22x9.5 in the back with a 285-35-22. I thought the backs would be totally fine but when the back moves at all I hear rubbing. I might try a spacer tomorrow...

Anyone have any pictures or experience with mini tubbing a burb? I cant find anything when I search except pickups. Is it pretty much the same?

It looks so sick...this is just a crappy pic i took with my phone before I came in...

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

You could look into using pick-up wheel houses. I saw somewhere on the forum where someone used these to replace the rusted out factory wheel houses. They look "factory", and I think they'll give you just enough room for those 22's. The profile of the truck tubs is a little less round, and it looks like the bottom mounting lip is almost the exact shape needed for very little fab work.
Or you could cut in a "wedge" to the existing wheel tubs that would tip the tops toward the center of the burb. Wouldn't take much if you're just barely rubbing. Maybe an inch at the top to nothing at the bottom.

Sweet look on the new wheels though! I love the older styles. Most of the newer styles are just about the "Bling". They have no soul.

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

They are +15mm offset so they are about 5.8 inch backspace on a 9.5 wheel.

Did Coys tell you this was the backspacing you needed?

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

Ya I think I had 5" on 20's on my last truck but they were 10 wide...

These are Rev Classics...I ordered them from a shop in Cali that sounded like they had done a lot of these trucks but idk? They told me they would fit but they definately don't. I couldnt get out of my driveway becuase of the rubbing. I am going to try a spacer later today but not sure if it will leave me enough room on the outside then.

I think a better option than tubbing would be to switch out the rear to a 71-72. It's 3/4" wider on each side which should give you plenty of room....

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

So i added a 1/4 spacer and i can roll straight but any bump or corner it totally still rubs hard. I am really in a crappy place cause I love the look so much...it's exactly what I want but I have no more money and they wont exchange the wheels. Im afraid the front is too low too...with just me driving I rubbed multiple times on corners during my test drive...so to to keep them I'm looking at a lot of crap I gotta do to ride without problems. UGH...

Ya I think I'm going to try a 1/2 inch spacer first and some new studs...if that doesnt work then I will be doing a little mini tub

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

You have to be careful with spacers. I've heard horror stories about them. If you plan to run the spacers for awhile, I'd suggest checking the torque on the lugs every day for a week, and then frequently after that. And make sure your lug nuts thread onto at least 5/8" of stud.

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

I had used a 1/4inch spacer on the back of my burb, and I had gone to the parts store to get a 3/4 longer set as the wheels were a thicker flange as well. I would recommend torque ing the wheels, then drive 50 miles and retorque and you should be fine.

Re: 22" wheels on burbs Q

Ya thanks for looking out for me guys. I dont like the spacer thing but i need a quick cheap fix so I think I will go for it. The guy at the wheel shop said he was going to send me some sort of special lug nuts that go deep into the lug hole of the wheel...Im not really sure about it all but I'm going to see what they look like and decided. Anyway, I'm going to have to do at least a half inch spacer cause at this point 1/4 inch still rubs every corner and bump.

As far as the front goes...I hate raising things up but it's too low to drive...Im looking at either buiding inner fenders or putting some new springs in to raise it up a little. Right now I have 1 inch of clearance between the top of my tire and inner fender. Its a pretty sketchy way to drive.
