OG 66 C-10 Custom

Ma..... I've been bad. Here is my 66 c-10 purchased from the original owner, matching numbers, no rust to mention and I will be installing a dropmember c4 with a c4 backhalf as soon as it gets back from powdercoat. I will update pics as I go. Matt

P.S. Thanks Nathan.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom

Are you going to drop the numbers-matching engine back in? I think that truck would be sick if you restored it 100% stock, less the Dropmember and C4 rear.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom

who told you that was a numbers matching truck?

cause those valve covers, intake manifold, carb, long water pump and oil filter all scream NOT numbers matching for the '66 year model.

The carb was replaced with a new quad carb but the old man who owned it said it was the og motor. Hell, he might be insane. If I get the numbers off of the motor can anyone look them up and find out what it is?

One of my buddies wants me to do this but I do not know yet. I know that I will not be able to use the stock 3spd trans and will have to use a 350 auto. I have a built dart iron eagle headed 355 waiting to be used so I am torn.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom

Nice cool project you have there, truck looks solid as hell.

The restored original look with badass stance and wheels always appeals to me but I bet yuo have great plans.

I also dont think thats the original engine, from the pictures I see the harmonic balance is way to big to be a pre 68 engine.pre 68 heads also have no accessory bolt holes on the ends also. its no biggie though to not be 100% not numbers matching,it didnt look like a very high optioned truck.

Will be watching progress pics.

I have some 20" centerline polished smoothies that are being powdercoated gloss black as we speak. I hope to give it that old flavor but with bigger shoes. Dino, love the green monster, your truck is what started me with this one. What is that huge compressor you are running?

What a steal! That thing is going to look sick with the drop member and c4 backhalf.

I always say start with the best you can get a hold of and it looks like you have done just that. Than add in some great parts and you just can't go wrong.

Re: OG 66 C-10 Custom

Looking good so far, where did you get the rear set up for the C4 or is it your own design?

Are you going to keep the orginal paint/patina and just update the drive train? Looks good, I will be watching this one.

Yes, they were polished and not a flaw in them... now they are black.

Nathan from Porterbuilt street rods that makes the dropmember built it in his jig and sent it here. I welded it in and boxed the frame rails and will do some other support on it before putting in the rear.

As for the truck I am going to run it crusty for a while. It is my "shop truck" and I might take it down eventually but for now I am going to keep the OG patina.
