Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Since my truck has turned into this never ending project, I wanted another classic to cruise around in. I've always loved suburbans, and this one had been for sale for a while, so I figured I'd go check it out. Next thing I knew, it was in my driveway. I briefly owned one a while back, but the HOA didn't like it. So this time, I paid a little more and got a running and driving one!

It's been in AZ it's whole life. The protect-o-plate says it was bought at Rudolf Chevrolet. It's got front/rear air, front/rear sway bars, a decent stereo and the engine/tranny were rebuilt about 30k/20k miles ago respectively. The front seats are out of something else obviously, but the DS seat is power which is a plus. It's got some rust, but it's not near as bad as my '67 pickup. Plans are to put some new wheels on it (maybe the Boss 338's), maybe give it a 4/6 drop and put some miles on it!

This thing also has an auxiliary gas tank that the previous owner took out, but gave to me in the sale. Was that a dealer installed option?

It's only my second day of owning it, and two people have already asked me what it was and if I welded the 4th door shut.......

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Welcome to the burb family!

Suburban owners are kind of like the black sheep family members, but the ones that all the other family members quietly envy!

That is a very nice looking burb ya got your self into for sure!

Yea, the "welded 4th door" comment is as old as the hills and twice as dusty. But, it still makes you chuckle when you see the amazement in the eye's of the person asking the question.

I've got the protecto plate for mine too, and it was also from Rudolph Chevrolet.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Thanks everybody. I've been driving this thing non-stop since I bought it. Puts a big smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.

So no one knows about the auxiliary gas tank?

The aux tanks were typically a dealer add on.

Curious though as to which one yours was fitted with?

Mine was just another burb tank added, but there are others that are more elaborate.

Nice ride and good show. Yeah, I have had that question about welding the fourth door shut too.

Was that the Burb that was on the Mesa Craiglist and the seller was asking
6000.00 for it. It looked real good in the ad and I see the ad is off the list now. Those seats are from 95 to 99 Chev/GMC trucks and are very comfy and wear like iron.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

@Vectorit, I will get some pics for you as soon as I can.

@Already Gone, yes it's the same burb. I got him to come off of his price a bit. I went through all of the receipts he had with it, and almost everything has been replaced or service at some point while he had it. So I think I got a pretty good deal.

Thanks again all for the compliments. Trying to get some prices on wheels/tires so I can get those '90s billet wheels off of her.

BTW, my '99 got broken into last night. I was so concerned about making sure the burb was locked up tight that I forgot to lock up my Silverado. Damn thieves hit the one night I forget to button it up! GRRRR!

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Well I got the Boss 338's on. I think they look pretty good. I just need to get this thing dropped to fill in the wheel wells. I'm fighting the urge to bag it, just b/c this is supposed to be my driver, not another project!

The last couple of pics are of the aux gas tank for Vectorit.

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Wow, those wheels were made for your Burb. I'm not of fan of dropping our stuff real low and think a slight drop ( with the new wheels ) will work perfectly on your Burb. The staff at ECE in Fresno are experts at dropping our trucks and Burbs and if you need it will give you suggestions and ideas and their stuff is top notch..

I think I passed your new ride at some point around Mesa. Good looking Burb! Seeing it makes me want to get mine back on the road!

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Yeah I hear ya Already Gone. I've been going back in forth between a 4/6 from ECE and a simple bag setup. Nothing too major. I'll save that for my '67 if I ever decide to go that far. I've dealt with the guys at ECE several times, and I always had a pleasant experience. I just don't want to put the 4/6 on it and wish I had gone lower. Plus I already have a lot of the stuff I need to bag it, so the $$ kind of evens out. So I dunno... I'm still gonna think on it.

Zellway, it's quite possible! I've been driving this thing non-stop since I got it. The gas station on the corner LOVES me!

Nice ride! I was looking at that one on CL for a while, but my 72 burb is almost done and down from Utah with new everything. I want those seats in Black leather!

Re: Yay I can hang out over here now too!

Thanks, Crownliner. Yah I hope to redo those seats at some point. I was originally thinking of going to some era-correct buckets, but after driving it a while, I've found that I really like those later model seats. Very comfy and they're power.

Did you ever get your burb lowered?

I really like the looks of it!
They are so hard to find in good condition, like yours.
