My Hale's Speed Shop 52

I've been looking for a driver for a couple years that was mostly built that I could work on, while still driving it. I've been following Hale's Speed Shop (Lewisville, TX) for awhile, but never thought I would see one of their trucks come up for sale. I also knew I didn't have the patience to sit on their waiting list for 3 years to get something built!

About a month ago, I happened upon this truck for sale and knew I had to have it! Last week I drove to Lewisville and trailered her home. I could not be happier with this truck! It drives amazing and runs pretty strong with a little over 400hp to the tires.

My dad is an upholsterer so we will be redoing the seat and upholstering the headliner soon and finishing up some of the carpet work. He is building me some leather tailgate chain covers right now. I can't wait to get them in.

I'll also be putting in a much nicer, yet hidden stereo soon.

The only thing that is a little bothersome is that the truck is tuned a little rich due to the huge MS3 cam. A quick lap around the block and you smell like exhaust for the rest of the day! I'll likely be swapping the cam and stall soon (4000 rpm Yank Pro).

Here are some of the details:

Engine:
-LY5 (2008 Silverado 5.3L)
-DOD deleted
-243 high compression heads
-Patriot double platinum valve springs
-Hardened push rods
-LS6 intake
-LS6 ported throttle body
-F body oil pan (2000 Camaro)
-Modified block hugger headers
-Magnaflow 2.5" exhaust
-Texas Speed MS3 cam (238/242 .600"/.600")
-Speed density tune by Sam Miller using HP tuners

Transmission:
-4L65e
-New pump
-Upgraded Z-Pak clutches
-Upgraded sprag
-Corvette servo
-Yank pro stall (4000 rpm)
-External cooler

Rear End:
-Ford 8.8 (out of '99 Explorer 4x4)
-Disc brakes
-3.73 gears
-Limited slip (packed in extra clutches to make tighter)

Chassis:
-Fatman Mustang II IFS
-Upgraded polished control arms
-Upgraded stainless steal brake lines
-Hale's Speed Shop front upper bag mount and control arm mount for corrected geometry and air bag alignment
-Hale's Speed Shop one off 2 link rear with pan hard bar
-2x 3.5 gallon aluminum tanks
-2x Viair 480c Compressors
-SMC valves
-Valve silencers and dump controls
-Heavy duty air ride system solenoid
-Firestone 2500 air bags all 4 corners
-Custom built dual needle air gauge by classic instruments
-2 momentary toggles from front up/down and rear up/down
-1 on/off toggle for air compressors

Extremely jealous of your purchase.
I too follow Hales Speed Shop on Instagram.
I also followed that truck when it was on ebay.
Beautiful truck!

Re: My Hale's Speed Shop 52

Here's a pic of the ones I built for my 81 6.0 ,, I considered buying a set of the script chevy valve covers and cutting out the chevrolet and the ribs and reccessing them on the covers I made but it seemed a little much for that truck but am still thinking that's what ill do on my 55 1st.

Re: My Hale's Speed Shop 52

That cam is just too big. Find one about 15 degrees smaller. 225 intake duration at the most. Can you post the spec sheet for that cam?

I'll look later tonight to see if I have it.

I did replace a bad exhaust manifold gasket on the driver's side that definitely helped with the exhaust smell.

Thank you!

I've been working on the stereo here and there for the past couple of weeks. Pictures won't really do it justice and I tried to keep everything as hidden as possible. I built some really simple, carpeted kick panels and with a little cutting, I was able to squeeze in a Dynaudio 8" 3 Way system without losing much space or taking away from the look of the interior.

I only have pics of it with my cardboard mock up right now. I'll need to take some pics of it finished, although you can just imagine this panel, covered in black trunkliner. The speakers are loaded from behind and are not visible. All the real work went into cutting and deadening the metal behind the panel.

I also built and carpeted enclosures for 2 JL Audio 10TW3 subs that go behind the rear seat and installed a Wet Sounds SD6 amp, Tru Technologies Line Driver and JL Audio BlueTooth receiver.

Re: My Hale's Speed Shop 52

I also had my dad build some leather chain covers. I think they turned out nice. We used a combination of black leather with a dark brown that matches the wood bed as well as thick gold stitching.
