Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Thanks guys! I finished the passenger door glass tonight. The doors sound so much more solid when they close and the windows are smooth all the way up and down. I can't believe I was nervous about doing this job.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Little update for those looking to use the Holley accessory brackets. After driving the truck a bit the belt "settled" some so I went to an even shorter belt. It is Carquest p/n K060997, it's 99 7/8" long and puts the tension pointer right where it needs to be.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Daaang.... Porterbuilt AND A/C?? I missed a lot! I still love this truck... I actually told the wife a few weeks ago that I was tossing around the idea of finding an LS and an auto to swap into mine. And A/C, that would be SWEET!
I need to rebuild my doors/windows as well. They rattle like crazy when you shut them and when you're going down the road and the passenger side is down. Keep up the great work! I saw your post about getting "down" on your truck and I can relate. Especially when you look at the "show truck" builds on this forum. Makes me want to blow mine back apart and do everything "right". BUT, I have to remind myself, she's just a driver, and that's what I wanted. Maybe one day I'll build a show truck, but for now, this one is good enough. I get plenty of compliments when I drive her anyway ![]()

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Well... Cruisin' the Coast was fun and I enjoyed meeting a bunch of board members, but it really got me thinking about my truck. I need to take it down for a few weeks/months to fix some things that just need fixing and to do some detail work. There is one more big show/cruise in Panama City Beach next month(http://www.emeraldcoastcruizin.com/) and I am excited to take it over there, but after that it's time to get after it!

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Are you still selling your Porterbuilt coilover set-up?
You must be adding air ride now,...

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
While we were at Cruisin' the Coast the truck had a weird feel to the front end when I applied the brakes and it was pulling a little to the left. Rob (Hart_Rod) said I needed to check the upper control arm shims, but I shrugged it off. I decided to take his advice and I'm glad I did, the left side aft shim pack had fallen out! They were sitting in the top of crossmember. I reinstalled them and torqued all of the upper control arm nuts to 70 ftlbs. I think I'll take it to the alignment shop and have it checked...

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"
Measure your "final" shim pack height and make a piece of tubing (or round stock shim) to replace it.
That way they can't fall out.
