Nah, not yet. I am on the fence about when to do the install. The initial plan was to do the rear at one time and the front this winter, but I may wait until the winter to do the front and rear at the same time.

As far as paint or powder coat, I am looking into the cost of both and weather or not I can get it done here in town. I like the hot rod black paint that n2billet uses, but the durability of powdercoat is nice too. Heck with all that said, I may just stop by Lowe's on the way home and buy some Rustoleum! I'm sure it would look fine until I tear the whole truck down for paint... in a few years.

Have you decided "how much" the rear wheels need to move forward?

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

Looks to be between 1" and 1.5". I asked to have my trailing crossmember built 1.25" forward, unfortunately it doesn't look any different than a standard piece. I did it this way because the crossmembers are adjustable but only toward the rear, so I figured if i went too far forward I could either lengthen the heim joints or move the crossmember back 1 bolt hole. When I get started I will mark the floor and then roll the axle forward until it looks right and then mark the floor and measure the change. Hopefully that will give the vendors, including Nate, a good reference for dropped steppers.

I used rustoleum professional series primer and semi gloss black online and I think it looks great and also is easy to touch up.

I set out to get my Vintage Air A/C kit and Holley accessory brackets on order today but the "try and save a few $$" bug hit me. I got so wrapped up in finding the best deal I didn't get anything ordered.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

We'll, the A/C and accessory brackets brackets are on order. Chip at Summit Racing (ext. 6459) was great, he worked with Vintage Air to configure the kit for my application. Give him a shout if you have a similar setup and he will hook you up. I hope they can get it to me in the next week... it's getting HOT down here!

Isn't it always hot in Florida It has been really hot in Jersey the last 3 weeks or so. Can't remember the last time it wasn't in the 90's here. Glad you got it ordered, will just make your truck that much more comfortable to drive.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

I don't really know how to express what I am feeling right now... I'm not really mad, but maybe a little. After my post, I got a couple of PMs with people telling me that they could have gotten it for this price or that price. So riddle me this... the next time I need a part can I post in the Vendors section what I want, and then have them post what they can sell it for? Is that acceptable? In this case I feel I paid a fair price and received outstanding customer service (so far lol), but maybe next time I can let the vendors battle it out for the sale...

that stinks. From what I've seen, vendors aren't allowed by the manufacturer to advertise prices...that's why most do it via pm. In the future I'd check the vendor forum and pm two or three of the guys and see who gives you the best deal.

Re: Project "Just an Old Truck"

If you feel you did good and was treated like you wanted then your good. Soooo many people want to say hey try this one or that one. Whatever. I've had crappy service from the big guys slinging deals and crappy from the small ones. It's not always about price. It's about getting what you want at a price your cool paying.
Oh but I did save $342 by switching to GEICO....

I completely agree with this statement. I actually did this a couple of times over the last week. I'm happy to say I've gotten quality service and a decent price I'm happy with from two different vendors on here. The ordering process was pleasant with both vendors and, although I may have made it more complicated than necessary for both of them, I feel like I was given a high level of customer service from both and would gladly buy from each of them again.

I do appreciate the sense of frustration you are experiencing from after-purchase sales pitch from a competitor. I've never felt good about that type of situation. It's happened to me a couple of times in the past. Just be glad you got the service you expected and a price you're happy with. Hopefully the service will remain as good as you expect.

I think I'm going to try it my way next time, make a single post and request they send me their bid. Why should I have to ask several times when I can ask once.

I agree that there are some quality vendors here, and the ones I have dealt with have treated me well. I like my new purchasing strategy... we'll see how it works.
