Bumper looks much better! lol Will you be cutting off the excess threads from your u-bolts or will you just leave them that long?

Yeah, I left the length on them just because if it's not low enough once I get the bed back on it, I'll add more block. If I add more block, I need more Ubolt so I just left that for the last thing I do. Those things are THICK man.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Chad,

Doe's the PB upper shock crossmember have to used with lower shock mount, or can it be used with the stock lower mounts? I ask because I really want to use the tubular crossmembers front to rear (minus the dropmember & trailing arm ones).

Oh, and I have a '70 front grille that you could have to practice on straightening. It's currently on mine, but I'm going to the '68 grille & hood. And I still owe you one for the shock relocation pieces.

The upper shock mount pulls the shocks around in front of the rear axle tube a little more, instead of the stock location pictured. It is designed to give you more of an Up/Down position than the angle you get when you lower your truck without relocation brackets.

The thing that concerns me about running the upper bar without the lower bar is the orientation of the shock bolt up top in relation to the bolt in the bottom. The angle would be quite a bit different. I'd be interested to see where the ECE brackets would put it compared to stock but I still dont thing it would pull it around (thinking efficiency) to the point the lower PB shock bar would put you. Honestly, .. I'd run both the upper and lower shock bars, regardless of stock trailing arms or Nate's. Just my .02

NOT just because I have PB stuff on mine, I understand there are trucks on here that are 10x mine or more .. I'm just saying, I would recommend Nates products to anyone. You can just 'see' the efficiency and geometry / creativity the guy has in his mind. Absolutely incredible stuff. Ed, my vote .. upper and lower PB. Pass on the relocators to someone else brother. Just me. later ..

(red = PB shock position, blue = PB lower shock bar)

I'm going to come up to Nashville with Chad, but the only thing that worries me is the word "work". At my age, I mostly supervise!

Honestly I probably wont keep it that long, just something for the new owner to do.

Thank you brother, it's been a long time coming. Ever since Eric posted those wheels in the For Sale section, I wanted them I just didn't have the $. I just decided to take the plunge and go 2-at-a-time. It has taken a while to save up and get them but I hope it sets this truck apart from the crowd.

Yep, you were actually in the shop when I was talking to APT. How long does it typically take to get wheels from Billet Specialties? I'm thinking 4-5 weeks?

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

I read back through my own build on this truck and it's odd to me how it all panned out. Almost a year ago I said (I should have my wheels by Mid-May) .. and I still don't have them. They should be on it, well .. Mid-May.

No regrets though. My plans kinda changed yes, but I'm glad I went ahead and did what I really wanted. I can enjoy it for a month or so then just let er go. It will be for sale on the HRPT, and for whatever reason it doesn't sell I'll put it on eBay.

Dad and I are going to run the brake lines on Sat, and hopefully knock the inner bedsides down and prime. They're really pretty straight so it shouldn't take long to get them painted. (famous last words?) .. but then it's just finishing up the bed assembly and interior. I need to put the door panels on and detail around the lower parts of the doors where boots have just kicked the door open over the years and stuff. I need to get some nice black arm rests for it, a carpeted cover for the tank and maybe some new door handles and misc on the inside and it's done.

Then it's just waiting on wheels..

Once this one goes, my stepper is going to become a fleetside and layed out. Stay tuned to that one.
