Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

That rear is a semi float 14 bolt used in a lot of 3/4 ton chevy trucks, the diff is a possi and is called a gov lock by many( I think eaton makes it) but they are known to blow up, I belive Auburn macks a possi for those rears and detroit maks a locker. I would not use one of the stock style again though especialy if you are running larger tires...

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I got some more work done today, got under the bed all cleaned up and painted and got it installed on the truck to see what it will look like. It took 3 people to get it in position to get the bed on it.

I got some work done to the truck today, looks like a truck now. I am just mocking it up as I forgot what it looked like and I wanted to see what the lift was going to look like.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I guess most anything is available for sale for the right amount of money. I know what it has cost to date to build the truck, so whats your offer? It is at the reassembly stage to mock it up and then once it all fits take it back apart to blast and paint.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Sence the question was raised how much money do you have wrapped up in that? If you don't mind saying that is...I'd love to do up a truck exactly how your doing it but hard pressed to say I'd have the funds for a project like that...

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I have never added up all the money and time that I have spent on the truck in case my wife found out because I might be living in it. I am working on 2 trucks and also a 38 Chrysler that is almost done except for the interior. If I had to guess I would say in the 15000 range but would be hard pressed to duplicate it for that amout.

Well I got the tailgate on, looks good and a bed mat for the floor of the truck that can be trimmed for a shortbed.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Kevin,

I am thinking of not using the 454 and maybe go with a 383 or 350. It seems like the way this truck is mounted on the late model frame there will be a lot of firewall massaging to get it to fit.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Whats a good color? I was going to paint it orange with a white top, now maybe blue with a white top. I have a ways to go before that day comes when I have to decide what color and I am always looking at the cars on the road to see what colors are on them.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

What ever color you pick buy alot of it! You might also want to check into those turn signals that the big rigs use showing a person getting run over on the inside corner! That is one long sob It does'nt look as long now that is it lifted a bit.

I towed the suburban home on a flatbed with a tahoe like that, the tahoe got airborne when the sub was first on the trailer. Suckers are HEAVY!
