Re: New Shop (finally)!

Very nice! I've got a 32x40x11.5 and love it. However with (4) vehicles and a boat I'm out of room.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Looks great! New concrete is always exciting. We mark the pour dates in ours and it is always interesting to look back over the years.

Next up is...?

Re: New Shop (finally)!

That looks great! If you don't mind sharing what is the rough cost per sq ft for that type of construction? What are your plans for the interior walls? Insulation and sheathing? I imagine some skylights would really help to brighten it up. Please keep the pictures coming.

I am at about 14.50 per sqft but that is with the building insulated, 2 10x10 overhead doors, 1 steel man door, & the ceiling raised to 12'.
I think before my upgrades it was around 10.50-11.00 per sqft.

It is already insulated.
I plan to do OSB panels on the walls. And then paint them.
I like the idea of this better than sheet rock because I can screw it in so if I need access behind a panel I can remove it or replace a panel if ever needed. Also its stronger & makes mounting anything to the walls easy too.

I did think about skylights but was a little worried about leaks over time so I plan to hang a lot of fluorescent lights.

I am glad to have it to this point!

Re: New Shop (finally)!

Very nice shop! I'm having the dirt work done for mine as we speak. I am using the same type construction, but just a little bigger (40'x50') and a little higher (16' walls). I am going to have them frame for 3 10' wide doors but only install one 14'x10' roll-up door for now, because I am running out of money. I can't wait to get to where you are at now.

And that is when all the space seems to disappear.

Sounds like you've been on a long journey. Congratulations on nearing the end.

Re: New Shop (finally)!

I remember standing on the slab of my 24'x24' after it was poured thinking "Wow, this is gonna be huge". Amazing how small it gets with walls put up. Looks good, Justin. I'm definitely jealous.

Very nice! A lot easier to roll things around than on gravel. How many yards are estimated for the drive and approach? Looks like a lot.

I dont know how many yards of concrete they are estimating. It's going to be a LOT!

It's a 30x40 slab in front of the shop, a 75x10 driveway with a 25x5 connection to the existing driveway plus they are tying into some existing steps coming out of a door from the attached garage & also are going to pitch the driveway a little for water run off. I have a rough dollar estimate but they charge for whatever they actually use.
