ATVPRO,

This build is awesome. It's coming out better than I expected. I have a '70 LWB myself, and getting ready to sand the floor of the cab. I was wondering if you could tell me what products you used to seal/rust prevent/sound deadener? Any help would be appreciated? Thank you

Love the build and pickup, im really thinking of building me one. Love how your making it look close as possible to factory show room. You should go with some 186 Eagle Alloy wheels they keep the classic but u get the new chrome look.

I've seen it in person and these pictures don't do it justice. This truck is amazing. I wish I had the patience to do a job like this. The attention to detail is way beyond anything I could do. I'm so looking forward to the final result.

The last couple of days I decided to go ahead and swap out axles. Of course you know its not that simple. I robbed some 1 ton springs off of a longhorn and installed those. I put the axle in, decided to look at the brakes (though I was told they were new) I had to check them. Yes they were fairly new however they were bonded and not riveted. "Let the games begin" by the time I bolted on the rear wheels, I had replaced all the brakes and brake components, rebuilt the cyclinders, replaced the hub seals, drained dip fluid and inspected, everything inside was perfect, looked as new as the truck.

Today I swapped out the front axle that I have been restoring for the last couple of weeks on the bench. (Oh in case you are wondering the reason for all of this I had 411 and I wanted 373.) Finished that up. I am going to go ahead and replace the forward joint on the steering link. Still trying to decide what I want to do for shocks on this truck, I love the bilstein 5150s, had them on my landcruiser and they were awesome. However they would not look OE so I am going to try and find a set of heavy duty steel dust shield type of shocks and they will be silver.

I put the tailgate on the stand today getting ready to paint it, the thing is perfect all I need to do is prep for paint. Thats it for the crewcab.

Amazing work man!! Beautiful results.
You are (or will be) very glad you spent the time installing your door handles the way you did. The float-the-boat gaskets that you used initially will begin to crack in less than a month. The only ones that don't are the NOS GM pieces, but they are running about $40.00 a door now. But, even with the superior OE quality of the gasket, it still is not as clean as your method. Nice job!! Great attention to detail!!

All I can say is "wow"..........beyond impressed my friend. Keep up the great work, I can only imagine what kind of work went into the cab and rear doors. Nice to see someone going overboard on a build...love it!

Very nice truck. Is that a modified truck roof. Most burb roofs are higher and ribbed for her pleasure.

I wonder if there is enough interest or people who would want parts to make a 4 door truck or modify there burb into a 4 door. Could get some parts formed by a press to sell. I would love to have one!

Well I looked on-line to see what a new set of emblems would cost, roughly $75.00 for a set with no insurance of any kind of quality and undoubtedly less quality of chroming. I decided to restore my own emblems. Looks like it will take me about an hour each and some kind of special tool that won't scratch my eyeballs when I have to pop them back in. So once again I say "it’s all in the details".

For those of you that have been following this build thread from the beginning you have probably picked up that I don't like aftermarket anything so whenever I can restore something I do.

I did buy something aftermarket that I was actually impressed with more so than the original part, it was my dash pad. Seems to be some kind of solid molded material, only time will tell. That is all for now.

Excellent craftsmanship! If I missed this in the build thread I apologize. But how much are you actually extending the cab? Post-production upfitters, Scott-Built as an example used the stock C pillar/cab wall and extended the cab 42" with full size doors or 38 3/8ths on cut downs without frame mods. You also appear to be using the stock C pillar/wall assembly with modified rear doors.

Thanks Randall, I picked up some today. Its some pricey stuff, but im sure it will be well worth it. Do you have any tips or tricks to making it come out as nice as yours?

Well I went to install my specially made for me piece of glass and I used the wrong size hammer. Well have new glass tomorrow and decided to change my technique on installing glass.
