I should have...called him like 1 minute after he posted it and talked...almost offered to paypal a deposit but was scared shipping would be 2G's or more...did an online shipping quote and it came back at 695, but when I logged on to check the blazer had sold...

Now that I have stopped shaking and I am able to type, Im the lucky SOB that bought this. I could not beleive my eyes when I saw this come up, and thought that someone would jump on this and at least give a deposit. I called Chris and asked if he felt there was anyone serious about it, he said there was a ton of interest, but no one serious enough to give a deposit. Well after the 2 minute conversation came to that, I Paypaled the full 4500 plus the 3% service charges. I even had to send it twice because that is when the shaking started!!!

I have watched this post from the start, Im sure a few of you know what I have and what Im building. Like anything else, the plans change. Funny thing is last week I decided that I was going to put FAT tires under the rear, than this week Chris put his for sale. I have always had this voice in the back of my head askin why are you doing all these alterations to a 1972 GMC 2wd Jimmy, and tubbing would be the end of its original resale value.

I think I have made the correct decesion on this purchase, and saving mine for someone who want to stay original.

Chris has done some amazing things to this project, and there are probably only a few things that are going to change. From my parts project shelf Im going to be powering this with a 502 Ramjet, built 700 r4, 14 Wilwood brakes front and rear, narrowed 9" with 3.42 gears, maybe the cowl hood, my Air ride control system, plus a few other goodies that I have purchased over the last few years that are covered in dust. Unfortunately my buddy Duece has the same rims as what is on the Blazer, so unless he changes to his rim of choice, I may have to.

Its going to be a trip for me to get it, just over 2000 miles, but I have heard a couple horror stories from freinds up here with shipping companies lately, that I think I will be going on a road trip. I was planning to go to the Goodguys show in Spokane this year, but this year we may have to skip that one and make our way to the show in Des Moines on the 4 of July Weekend. Only thing Im wondering if that is a good weekend to be on the road?????

Hopefully I get to meet some of the board member on the trek there and back, maybe I will start a new post when Im getting closer to the road trip date.

Darren, you made one heck of a nice purchase. Just a note, my wife and I traveled over Memorial Day weekend and didn't run into to many issues while on the road, so I wouldn't see a problem making the trip on the 4th. I have heard from several members that the Des Moines Goodguy's show is one of the best in the Midwest, so I would definitely add that to your list of stops if you travel during that week.

Good luck with the trip!

PS, you might post your route so we can have a few people standing by in the chance you run into any issues along the way.
