Re: Surf Blue

Got some more work done. First ,I got the other door ready to put back on the truck ,and actually installed back on the truck. Since the door was installed I was able to re-install all of the other sheetmetal that goes on the cab. For some reason nothing wanted to line up right ,so I had to spend about 40 hours aligning everything to where I wanted it. What a PITA. Either way it's all done now. I picked up some under hood insulation and got it installed while I was at it.

The bed finally received some attention as well. It's completely bodyworked, and primed. I should have this thing painted in a few weeks, it's almost ready for the final prep. That's all for now. I'll post more when I get more done.

Some more.

Oh yeah ,the Malibu in the background is a car I painted about a year ago. It's just there for storage.

Re: Surf Blue

Nah I'm not risking my well being just to take some pictures. I'm just standing on one of my ATVs'. It's for sale BTW.

The Husky compressor in the background is just what I use for stuff at my house. It's good for priming, and doing other stuff, but for all of my painting I take that stuff to work. So to answer your question ,No I'm not using it for "everytrhing" I'm doing.

Re: Surf Blue

69chevyshort,i have a question about body work for you, i read that you do body work for a living so hopefully ou can provide some answers, i noticed in the last post that on the bed it looks as if you applied body filler to the bare metal, is that a better method then to apply exopy primer then body filler? im new to doing body work and trying to learn as much as possible. if you dont mind can you explain the process that you do for bare metal to paint.

any help you can giv would be greatly appricated.

Im very jealous of your truck awesome stance, perfect wheel combo, and a very nice paint choice.

thank you, Phil

Re: Surf Blue

Well first off I actually paint for a living. However I can do bodywork also.

To answer your question you can do it either way. What I mean is you can strip to bare metal first, then epoxy prime ,and then do bodywork on top of the primer. I personally do not prefer to do it that way. The other way is to strip to bare metal , do your bodywork ,and then etch prime the bare metal ,then use high build primer over the whole thing. That's the way I do all of my complete re-work on any old car or truck.

As for just painting over bare metal what I would do is etch prime it, then apply your other primer ,or sealer. Let it dry, prep it, paint it. You'll probably get several different opinions on this, as there is more than 1 way to do it correctly. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Re: Surf Blue

It's painted!

These pics are in no specific order so bare with me. The trailer you see the truck sitting on, took the place of my new wheels I was going to buy. I bought it instead . Go figure.

They're not terrible. You're upgrading & improving everything about the truck & new shoes were part of that plan. New, nicer, billet shoes .
