A Tool Everyone Needs In Their Toolbox

After fiddling with my wiper arms on my '72 for an hour I finally gave up. I did a quick search of the forum and found that Snap-On makes a tool for this and it is only $12! I recommend that everyone have this tool! Makes life much much easier.

I have also had the tool in post #4 for many years and have found that the little hook that grabs under the wiper needs an occasional tweak with some pliers. Great paint savers though.

I made my first tool out of strap iron and bent it to fit the wiper arm with the old heavy duty liquid fire tool and a hammer.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: A Tool Everyone Needs In Their Toolbox

I have to get one of those, & hope it works with old Dodges too. A few weeks ago I had a fight with a 77 Dodge D150 pick up. It ended up with some scratches close to the wiper posts, but the paint finish wan't good enough for me to feel ashamed. Anyway, all of us need one of those.

Re: A Tool Everyone Needs In Their Toolbox

Just did the amazon thing myself for around $5 with 2 day free shipping. Do you just put the tool on and pull up or do you need to push up on the tab under the arm?

Nah. I still got free shipping on Amazon with my prime account. I think you have to spend $99 at summit for free shipping.

Thanks for posting, I have a job I've been putting off for some time now because I didn't want to take those stubborn wipers off again.

Re: A Tool Everyone Needs In Their Toolbox

Wow, all the time and money that I have spent on a Snap-On truck in the past, I don't think I've ever seen anything that only cost $12! Looks handy. Thanks for sharing!

No worries! I have used the forums quite a bit for troubleshooting previous owners doings. Even though a little tidbit, I felt the need to give back.

Now that I'm retired I don't have money to spend as I once did. I'll stick with my claw hammer. The perfect wiper arm removal tool.

Man, I wished I'd know about this tool when I was wrestling with the wipers on Chubby. I overcame and modified an old flathead screwdriver to get them off. I just ordered one of these

Wish the glass guy that installed my windshield had had one, wouldn't have had to repaint my hood.

The tool relieves the spring pressure (wiper against the glass). You just hook it under and pull straight up.
