Best $35 I have spent so far...

For the money, this is the best $35 that I have spent buying tools for what needs to be done for this project.

This turns your MIG welder into a stud gun machine and allows you to pull dents without making holes in the panel.

I tried it for the first time today on a couple of shallow dents and it pulled them out easily. A couple of the more complicated ones, I had to weld a few, pull, remove and weld a few more... but eventually it pulled them most of the way out. Clip them off with a pair of wire cutters and a minimal hit with the flap disk then off to the next one.

This excites me very much, thanks for posting. I have a 62 pontiac catalina that came from a mill town, and it looks like it got in a lot of tavern parking lot brawls.

Re: Best $35 I have spent so far...

I tried to get one from WELD USA for my welder and the new gun I just bought from them as my stud gun was broken at the time I thought it would make a great spare and she said they had just discontinued it for my gun and they sold their last one the day before.
I highly recommend a tool called a Studlever made by STECK. It is one of the best body tools I've ever bought in my 30 years in the shop.

Re: Best $35 I have spent so far...

I use serrated 6d flooring nails and made a puller using the jaws from a pop rivet puller on a slide hammer. I don't think I paid $5 for the nails and the pop rivet puller was in my toolbox for years.....I hold the nail to the work area with my leather welding gloves and sometimes I will grind a small notch in the nail head for the tack weld if the dent is really tight (small). I did my whole truck and just got it back from paint recently so it does work really well.....But this kit looks pretty slick too.

Re: Best $35 I have spent so far...

I've also seen people tack weld nails on the dent and use the Morgan knocker to pop it out, kinda like a slide hammer glue puller.

Re: Best $35 I have spent so far...

I bought the same one, i thought it was crap ending up making my own with vise grips because the stud kept slipping from the puller, it couldnt get a grip. Make Sure to read the reviews first.

Re: Best $35 I have spent so far...

Mine came with 4 different cams for pulling the studs. I just had to make sure the cam I was using matched the stud I was pulling. No issues so far.
