I picked up this truck a few weeks ago in pieces. I am getting a good start on in now. Motor is ready to run, body work is getting there. Any comments are appreciated. This is my second truck that I have restored, so I am not an experience builder yet.

looking good. the rear springs look like they could use some help...lol, im doing a 72 prostreet step side. i will start a build thread soon on it. looks good. keep us up to date on it....

Very nice truck! doesn't look like there is any rust in the pics. Keep up the good work!

I had help removing the box, but everything else can be done by myself and a cherry picker.

I would like to replace the rear springs due to the way someone just heated them up to lower the truck.

The truck only has a little cancer on the cab just inside the doors, I don't think there is enough to put new floor pans in it though, I'll just fab up some patch pannels I think.

Well I got the motor running tonight finaly!!! Runs real good. It took a while to figure out the wiring harness though. I still have no idea what some of the wires are for. If someone has a link I could go to, and find a wiring diagram that I could print off, that would be great. My chilton book doesn't help for a 1970 that much.

the springs are tost, i replaced mine with air bags. easy to do. only about 100 bucks. rides real good. have done it on two of my trucks.

aford78, how many pounds is your cherry picker rated for? I need to go shopping for one soon when I need to take my engine out and get it on a stand.

I think most cherry pickers are rated for 2 tons.

I got a little more of the body work done tonight. I started putting antifreeze in the radiator when I noticed a leak. So I had to drain the system and re-solider the lower hose port. All good now.

What did you use to paint the frame and firewall with ?

Implement paint for farm tractors on the frame, and rustoleum on the firewall. I think that I am going to pull the motor back out and block off the heater hole in the fire wall and do a little more clean up work on it. I just don't know if all that extra work is worth it?

Hmmmm Michigan in May,June, sept Oct, Nov...yea I would get rid of the heater.......Duhhhhhhh Plan on driving it any of these months???

I don't plan on driving the truck when the weather turns cold or in the rain, just when its nice enough to drive. It is alot cleaner look blocked off I think.

sorry if I wake up its a good enough day to drive it.. not haveing defrost or heat doesn't seem worth it..there are alot of nice days ( like today) that its in the 50's or 60s where it just to nice a day to either be cold driving around or not to use it...

just my $.02
