heat and a/c
Are all those buttons supposed to be backlit. It would make sense to me if they are but a couple of mine in the 91 are not. The defrost/floor button, floor/face button, fan speed button and system on/off buttons are out.
Replaceable bulbs?

Re: heat and a/c
All of the buttons should be illuminated. There are three super tiny bulbs on the back of the board. Not sure what size they are.

Re: heat and a/c
I miss that dash. Missed it by one year in my '95, only to get the complications involved.

Re: heat and a/c
I'm not sure, but some searching indicates they are T4.2 Neo Wedge bulbs.
https://www.gmt400.com/threads/led-b...control.51932/ The T4.2 Neo Wedge appears to have a 10mm base. https://www.amazon.com/Jtech-Wedge-W..._1672419315575 Here's a bulb kit on eBay that says it's specifically for 88-94 Chevy trucks, and it lists the bulbs as 10mm. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174654851358 Last edited by pjmoreland; 12-30-2022 at 01:09 PM. |

Re: heat and a/c
Well, I never imagined there would ever be so many instrument panel bulbs available. I did check around town and no one carries the original bulbs. Everything is LED in a variety of colors and crap.
I did see where GM stockers are said to be $15 a piece! Nevermind those. I don't do business with our local dealer. I did find some on ebay coming out of Tn in a few days. $18.95 for the 3. And age is taking it's toll on the dash plastic also. The hvac control panel right side mounting ear is broken off. I epoxied it together to brace it up on the right side. The control panel is not available through O'Reillys so I don't imagine it is elsewhere either. Unless one of you know where to get one?

Re: heat and a/c
I received my 3 new stock type bulbs and installed them yesterday. They are correct and for $20. Nice to be able to see the buttons in the dark again.

Re: heat and a/c
Bulbs sure have gone up. I always bought the old mini-bulbs by the box or 6 or more. Can't imagine paying $40 (or more) for a small box of light bulbs... sheesh
