Thanks buddy it wasn't all that hard. It was Chucks (thelonerife) idea to use a string to scribe a mark from the bottom of the drip rail to the corners of the back window. Worked great!! However the inside was a little tricky..

yeah, now you just need to get a flap disc and get it smooth if you haven't already. Look like you made some nice welds though

its all smooth now and filled and primed. my camera just died!! lol I will post more pics tonight.

You make that look so easy to do but now that I have seen how to do it, does anybody have a rust free roof sitting around that won´t be needed anymore?

I like the green roof. It matches good. Good job. Are you planning on having it at the show in July?

Oh and for future reference. Gas fumes are more flamable than gasoline so an empty tank will blow up also. That is why they do not put heat to a tank to repair it. We use to heat up an iron and then use the iron to melt the soldier. Glad you are safe.

Yeah I know, if you think about it though an exhaust shop welds around gas tanks all the time. When I had to weld close to it I covered it with a welding blanket, I sure am glad I didn't blow up too! haha

Oh yeah!! but then I remembered I live in Tennessee... Snow, rain, and then there is eventually going bald... I really dont want to have a sunburned head and I don't look good in hats according to my wife!!

You really did make that look easy. I would not have even wanted to start that project. Good job and hope you get it driving again soon.

I think my buddy and I are leaving Friday morning and coming to Nashville to visit the Pickers Store and then they are talking about a cruise in at Hendersonville (I think) that we are going to Friday night. Show Saturday and Sunday and home Sunday evening. Hope to see you there.

Justread through the entire thread. I really like the work as you build idea. I'm VERY impressed with your roof swap, nice work. Most people I know would shy away from something like that. Way to go tackling that one. Looks like you're scoring some killer deals too. Did you ever find a "wide axle rear"? Keep up the good work !!

Yes sir, I hope to have it road worthy again in the next few days. The pickers store is pretty cool I can give you the best directions to get there. I have already cleared it with my wife to go, my goal now it to have the truck there with me!!!

Thanks I appreciate that! I did find a 5 lug rear, its actually a leaf spring rear but I am in the process of converting it to accommodate the trailing arms.

BTW your truck is awesome! I wish mine was in that good of shape. Awesome find for sure!
