CPP towers - which adapter plate?

I am putting a 98 LS1 into a 72 C10 2WD with CPP perches.The motor has some unknown adapter plates that were on it when I bought it. The current plate shares the bottom bolt with the motor mount.

Trying to use these, it sets the motor at 2-3" too far forward - camaro pan hitting front cross member, alternator conflict, and no way the 98' F body manifolds will work (which are supposed to work great).

The adapter plates I've looked at (CPP, Dirty Dingo) take their dimensions based on their relationship to the SBC flexplate and im starting from scratch.

Can anyone with a similar setup let me know what offset I need?

I assume you have the towers like pictured above in gray. If they are CPP and you already have them, why not buy the correct plated from CPP?

Plan B would be to have Robbie cut some on his CNC plasma table and just buy some SBC motor mounts.

Hey bud,

The issue is that CPP sells plates with a +3", +1.25" and -1/2" offsets - they werent very knowledgeable on the phone. Just curious if anyone has used the same combo so I dont need to guess and check

edit: Scotts recommended the +1.25". We'll see how it goes

I used the CPP towers on my swap. I tried using the supplied plates in your picture, but my headers didn't have the clearance needed. I ended up just making my own out of 1/4" plate stock. The info from glock35ipsc may help you out.

The plates that are currently on it are like number 2 from Glock's guide.



The F body pan is hitting the cross member and there doesnt seem to be any way that my 98' F body manifolds will work.

Does anyone have a clue whats going on? Could it be possible I have the wrong crossmember or its in the wrong location? Everyone seems to say this combo should work fine. Going to the number one option still may not provide enough clearance.

edit: My concern is that I have a 73-87 crossmember from the PO.

I couldnt use the CPP perches, no room for my exhaust manifolds, so I went with POL perches in the rear two holes and the 1.25" plates.
