Re: '55 International Metal/Body/Paint Work

Left side bodywork is done and sprayed with K93. Ready to wetsand and paint! We'll have the inside of the bed finished and in epoxy tomorrow.

Absolutely love it. But you knew that already. Probably my favorite build on here due to your details.

Thanks El Campo!! I'm working on a "How to detail sand body panels" post that you'd probably like! I'll post it in the paint/body section when it's ready.

Thanks for sharing.
You could make videos on how to do body work and all the necessary stuff needed for a quality paint job.
And I would buy it immediately!!!

Thanks Greg, that might be worth looking into! Saw that you found our shop's FB page, accepted the friend request this morning.

Finished the bed today! Ok we only finished the bodywork but it feels good to have that behind me! Just needs wetsanding with 280/500 and I can paint it. Then wetsand it three more times after it's painted, and buff it twice, then polish it...

Looks beautiful! Wish my bed looked half as good, and it started out brand new!

Yeah...Looks like you knocked the orange peel down just a little... You mean that's not the final finish!!

Looking good.

And that was with 220 grit scratches showing through...

The owner sent me a picture of his progress last night. He's got it running and took a test drive around the yard. He's finishing up the wiring now. We'll have it back over at our shop soon to install/align the front clip and doors, and install the glass.

The owner brought it back to the shop today. We'll start reassembling the front clip tomorrow. Just shot the inside of the grill shell to match the fenders.

That owner is one lucky guy.
You have definitely set the bar way up there.
Makes me work even harder to do better work.

Re: '55 International Metal/Body/Paint Work

Installed a few parts this morning.

There are two different profiles for the door seals, one for the front and one for the top/back. I scuffed the paint before brushing on glue so the glue won't flake off later. Also cleaned the seals with 3M adhesive remover so the glue had a clean surface to stick to.

Rear "L" shape seal installed and coated with Duragloss dressing.

I cut the seam at an angle for a better seal.

Front/flat seal installed.

Rear window seal needed to be cleaned and dressed with Duragloss before installing.

After cleaning and installing the glass.

Headlights assembled.

Ash tray installed.

Only one nit pic.....that new-fangled wiper switch has got to go!

Awesome work as usual.. Not a truck someone would normally think of restoring to such detail, but will be sure to draw a crowd when it's done.

Thanks! I agree about the wiper switch, that's what happens when the owner does some of the reassembly.. He said that he'll change it when he finds a suitable switch, the original wipers were vacuum that are now converted to 12v electric.
